Regular Season Round 16: Chalchuapa - Fantasmas 105-129

Bottom-ranked Chalchuapa (0-13) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 129-105 loss to fourth ranked Fantasmas (10-3) in Chalchuapa. They dominated down low during the game scoring 96 of its points in the paint compared to Chalchuapa's 58 and made 18-of-20 charity shots (90.0 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Chalchuapa 55-34 including a 23-10 advantage in offensive rebounds. Fantasmas players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American swingman Andravious Smith (198-1995, college: Tougaloo) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 83 points (!!!), 20 rebounds and 4 assists. The other American import guard Caleb Bowser (193, college: Georgian Court) contributed with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 10 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Naturalized Puerto Rican swingman Miguel Velez (185-1997, college: Hartnell JC) replied with a double-double by scoring 45 points (!!!), 10 rebounds and 6 assists and Puerto Rican point guard Ryann Mercado (182-1987, college: App State) added 36 points (!!!), 7 assists and 4 steals in the effort for Chalchuapa. Fantasmas have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place. Chalchuapa at the other side still closes the standings with 13 games lost. Fantasmas will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Chalchuapa will play on the road against Metapan (#4) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
