An interesting game for NicaraguanReal Esteli (3-2) which played road game in Caracas against 3rd placed Venezuelan Gladiadores (2-4). Second ranked Real Esteli managed to get a 5-point victory 89-84 . Real Esteli made 31-of-35 charity shots (88.6 percent) during the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. Real Esteli brought some defensive toughness making 8 blocks. It was a great evening for Cuban-Puerto Rican center Ismael Romero (205-1991) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds. American point guard Tu Holloway (183-1989, college: Xavier) helped adding 19 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists (went 11 for 11 at the free throw line !!!). The best for the losing side was Puerto Rican guard Jezreel De Jesus (185-1991, agency: Interperformances) with 19 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Gregory Vargas (181-1986, agency: Pro Sports) scored 15 points and 4 assists. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Real Esteli keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Obras and Halc.Xalapa. Gladiadores lost third consecutive game. Defending Venezuelan champion keep the third place with four games lost.
