Regular Season Round 15: Arecibo - Mayaguez 107-98

The game between closely ranked teams ended with first ranked Capitanes' (11-3) home victory over second-best Indios (9-6) 107-98 on Thursday. It was a great evening for American point guard David Stockton (180-1991, college: Gonzaga) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 11 assists. The former international Alfonso Plummer (185-1997, college: Illinois) helped adding 24 points. The best for the losing side was American power forward Nick Perkins (203-1996, college: Buffalo) with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds and the other American import Milton Doyle (193-1993, college: Loyola, IL) scored 11 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists. Four Arecibo and five Mayaguez players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Arecibo maintains first place with 11-3 record. Loser Indios keeps the second position with six games lost. Arecibo will meet league's leader Caguas on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Mayaguez will play against Carolina and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
