No shocking result in a game when second rankedIndios (14-14) beat 6th ranked Atleticos (12-18) in Mayaguez 96-91 on Wednesday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. It was a great shooting night for Mayaguez especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.6 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The winners were led by American forward Cameron McGriff (201-1997, college: OK State) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds and naturalized American Kyle Vinales (188-1992, college: CCSU, agency: 011 Sports) supported him with 19 points and 6 assists. Even 23 points and 6 rebounds by naturalized American guard Eric Ayala (198-1999, college: Maryland) did not help to save the game for San German . Naturalized American Antonio Gordon (206-2001, college: Oklah.Christian) added 15 points and 8 rebounds for lost side. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Mayaguez maintains second position with 14-14 record having nine points less than leader Guaynabo. Loser Atleticos keeps the sixth place with 18 games lost.
