There was no surprise in Leon where 9th rankedAbejas (2-14) were defeated by sixth ranked Santas (7-9) 72-66 on Friday. Santas forced 19 Abejas turnovers. Strangely Abejas outrebounded Santas 49-32 including 16 on the offensive glass. The game was dominated by American players. Guard Aniya Thomas (170-2000, college: Missouri St.) scored 34 points (!!!) and 7 steals (made all of her seven free throws) to lead the charge for the winners and center Zakyia Weathersby (188-1998, college: UAB) chipped in 11 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side power forward Khari Clark (188, college: Stony Brook) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 20 rebounds and forward Zada Williams (188-1996, college: Florida) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Santas have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Correcaminos and Rojas. Abejas lost twelfth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 14 games lost.
