Regular Season Round 8: Santa Tecla 2 - Metapan 57-81

Liga Mayor top team -Metapan (8-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed fifth ranked Santa Tecla 2 (5-3) 81-57 . Metapan dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Santa Tecla 2 's 26. They outrebounded Santa Tecla 2 50-35 including 36 on the defensive glass. Metapan players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Santa Tecla 2 's players. They brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. Worth to mention a quality performance of Cuban center Yayma Boulet (193-1984) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 25 points and 14 rebounds and American point guard Britney Jones (174-1987, college: UAB) who added 14 points, 15 rebounds, 10 assists and 4 steals during the contest. Four Metapan players scored in double figures. Guard Melany Sanchez (167-2004) responded with 18 points and 5 rebounds and forward Camila Lima (172-2003) scored 13 points and 5 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Metapan have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 8-0 record. Santa Tecla 2 at the other side dropped to the third place with three games lost. They share the position with Salvadorenas 2 and Batanecas.
