Regular Season Round 1: Gimnasia - Obras 57-87

Everything went according to plan when Obras outplayed Gimnasia CR in Comodoro Rivadavia 87-57 on Friday. Obras outrebounded Gimnasia 50-29 including a 38-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Obras made 7 blocks. Swingman Lautaro Barrios (195-2004) nailed 31 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side and power forward Valentino Finetti (204-2005) accounted for 11 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists. Uruguayan guard Thomas Araujo (192-2004) came up with 13 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Jose Copesky (184-2006) added 13 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Gimnasia in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Gimnasia CR's coach already knew that his team would not have a big chance, so allowed to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Obras will meet Penarol in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Gimnasia CR will play against Independ.O. and hope to win that game.
