Regular Season Round 4: Instituto - Atenas 87-74
Date: October 21, 2024
Very predictable result in Cordoba where second rankedInstituto (4-1) defeated bottom-ranked Atenas (0-2) 87-74 on Monday. Instituto dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Atenas ' 32. Instituto looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Uruguayan-Italian swingman Nicola Pomoli (195-1999) fired a double-double by scoring 10 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. The former international forward Bautista Lugarini (203-2001) chipped in 18 points (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!). Instituto's coach Lucas Victoriano used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Power forward Juan Cruz Oberto (200-1997) produced 19 points and 8 rebounds and swingman Jose Montero (193-1995) added 11 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Instituto have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 4-1 record behind leader Boca, which they share with Union. Newly promoted Atenas still closes the standings with two games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
