Regular Season Round 10: Olimpico - Defensor 89-85

There was a change at the Liga Sudamericana leadership position after last games. The most important game of round 10 took place in La Banda between two undefeated teams where ArgentinianOlimpico beat Uruguayan Defensor (3-1) 89-85 on Sunday night. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Defensor. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 27-17 . But Defensor won second period 27-21 . However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Olimpico won last quarter 22-20 . They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Brazilian center Joao Franca (215-1998) scored 30 points and 5 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and swingman Julian Morales (195-1995) chipped in 20 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) during the contest. At the losing side American guard Malik Curry (184-1999, college: WVU) responded with 22 points and 8 assists and center Theo Metzger (200-1999) scored 21 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Olimpico have a solid four-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Nacional. Defensor at the other side dropped to the second place with one game lost. They share the position with San Lorenzo. They were replaced at the leadership position by Olimpico.
