Real Esteli clinched LSB title. They overcame Jaguares in the decisive fifth game of the championship series to conquer the trophy. Real Esteli made 32-of-41 free shots (78.0 percent) during the game. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Real Esteli made 11 blocks. 29 personal fouls committed by Jaguares helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American-Puerto Rican forward Angel Matias (194-1992, college: Georgia South) orchestrated the victory by scoring 24 points and 8 rebounds. The former international swingman Francisco Garth (195-1999) contributed with 15 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Real Esteli's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Dominican point guard Raimer Mercedes (183-1997) answered with 36 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds and international forward Josmel Martinez (198-1999, college: Broward CC) added 12 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Jaguares.
