Rather expected game when 5th rankedLA U (2-3) lost on the road to second ranked Panteras (4-1) 59-47 on Saturday. Panteras held LA U to an opponent 21.8 percent shooting from the field compared to 27.6 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded LA U 69-47 including a 48-31 advantage in defensive rebounds. Naturalized American guard Ashley Reid (165-1998, college: Wichita St.) nailed 30 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side and Venezuelan Amanda Torres (170-1989) accounted for 2 points and 16 rebounds. Swingman Diobelis Batista (167-2005) came up with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds and Venezuelan guard Crismar Rojas added 17 points and 6 rebounds respectively for LA U in the defeat. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Newly promoted Panteras maintains second place with 4-1 record having just one point less than leader Felinas. Loser LA U keeps the fifth position with three games lost.
