Flamengo clinched Basketball Champions League Americas title. They nipped Real Esteli in Managua to capture the trophy. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 84-80. Flamengo looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Spanish-Brazilian center Rafael Hettsheimeir (210-86) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 7 rebounds. He was named the MVP. Point guard Yago Matheus (173-99) contributed with 16 points and 8 assists for the winners. Puerto Rican guard Jezreel De Jesus (185-91, agency: Interperformances) answered with 23 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and American-Puerto Rican swingman Alex Franklin (198-88, college: Siena) added 14 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Real Esteli. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures.

Minas earned the third place in the tournament as they edged Sao Paulo in the consolation final. It looked good early as Sao Paulo took a 2-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Minas had a 15-12 second period charge getting the lead and Sao Paulo was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 58-75. They outrebounded Sao Paulo 50-39 including 39 on the defensive glass. Minas brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. American guard David Jackson (190-82, college: Penn St.) stepped up and scored 14 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners and his fellow American import guard Shaquille Johnson (194-90, college: Marshall, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 7 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Minas players scored in double figures. At the losing side point guard Georginho de Paula (197-96) responded with 17 points and 8 rebounds and power forward Lucas Mariano (208-93) scored 7 points and 9 rebounds. Sao Paulo's coach rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win.
