An interesting game for Argentinian Instituto (2-2) which played road game in Quilpue against 3rd placed Chilean Los Leones (0-3). Second ranked Instituto managed to get a 4-point victory 81-77. The guests trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 6-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 81-77. Instituto made 20-of-23 free shots (87.0 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Forward Bautista Lugarini (203-2001) orchestrated the victory by scoring 15 points and 6 rebounds. Uruguayan-Italian swingman Nicola Pomoli (195-1999) contributed with 14 points for the winners. American forward Jerry Evans (203-1990, college: Nevada) answered with 16 points and 9 rebounds for Los Leones. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Instituto maintains second place with 2-2 record having just six point less than leader Sesi/Franca. Defending Chilean champion Los Leones still closes the standings with three games lost. Los Leones will play at home against the league's leader Sesi/Franca and hope to get finally their first victory.
