Dominican Rep. Luis Montero (203-SF-1993) had an amazing evening in the last round for top-ranked Minas Belo Horizonte, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 6.
The 31-year old player was the main contributor (9 points, fourteen rebounds and three assists) to his team's victory, helping them to beat Bigua (#2, 1-2) 85-77. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. It allowed Minas to consolidate first place in the Basketball Champions League Americas. They maintain a perfect record without any lost game in the league. The season is still on an early stage, but Minas already had a very good start winning all 3 without losing a single one. Montero turned to be Minas' top player in his first season with the team. Former South Plains College star has very solid stats this year. Montero is in league's top in rebounds (2nd best: 9.7rpg) and averages impressive 56.3% FGP and 71.4% from behind 3-point line.

The second best player in last round's games was young Georginho de Paula (197-PG-1996) of league's leader Sesi/Franca Sao Paulo. de Paula had a very good evening with 10 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Of course Vivo/Franca cruised to a 83-71 relatively comfortable win over Los Leones (#3, 0-4). It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Sesi/Franca consolidated its place in the very top position of the standings. A very good start of the season for his team, which won so far all 4 games without any defeat. de Paula is a newcomer at Sesi/Franca, but is already one of team's top players.

Third on the list of top players last round was another Minas' star - guard Danilo Fuzaro (193-G-1994). Fuzaro scored 18 points. He was another key player of Minas Belo Horizonte, helping his team with a 85-77 win against #2 ranked Bigua. Minas started extremely well this year. They recorded 3 victories without losing a single game. Fuzaro turns to be one of the very best players in the league while he is also a leader of the top team having his eyes on the championship title. Fuzaro has a great season in Basketball Champions League Americas. After only 3 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 15.3ppg (6th best).
