The biggest surprise took place in Medellin where host Colombian Paisas (2-2) edged league's leader Nicaraguan Real Esteli (2-77) 101-100 on Saturday evening. Paisas made 21-of-24 free shots (87.5 percent) during the game. Paisas outrebounded Real Esteli 32-13 including a 23-11 advantage in defensive rebounds. Paisas shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 52.2 percentage. Dominican Victor Liz (190-1986) fired 34 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds for the winners. American forward Eric Griffin (203-1990, college: Campbell) chipped in 19 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Puerto Rican point guard Jezreel De Jesus (185-1991, agency: Interperformances) produced 35 points (!!!) and 5 assists for lost side. Real Esteli's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Paisas moved-up to second place, which they share with Boca and Instituto. Real Esteli lost 77th consecutive game.
