Orange Walk Running Rebels hosted this year's Pepsi All Star Night at the Orange Walk Multi-Purpose Complex on Saturday night in front of a packed arena. The night started off with the Old Master Fine Rums Three Point Contest, as defending champion, Elbert Ariola (G) from Verdes defended his title and crowned as the Three Point Champion for the second consecutive year. The ASR Group - Belize Sugar Slam Dunk Contest surely lived up to its hype, as five great participants showcased their creative and flying abilities. Isaiah Thomas, from Verdes walked away as this year's slam dunk champion, dazzling the crowd with his performance. The night finished off with the Smart All-Star Game as the local team was seeking revenge for the 2 point loss last season. It was dej vu all over again as the imports/Belizean Americans jumped out to an early lead that was extended to over 20 points. However, just like last year, the locals showed some pride to close the gap in the fourth quarter, knotting the score at 88 apiece with 12 seconds remaining. With the game tied at , and 6 seconds remaining in the game, Isaiah Thomas went 1 for 2 at the charity stripe, giving the imports/Belizean Americans a 1 point lead, with the local team having ball possession. Orange Walk Running Rebels point guard, Roger Reneau (F) got a chance to win the game with a buzzer beater three point attempt that rattled out, giving the imports/Belizean American squad their second consecutive win of the All Star Game.
