There are only two more rounds left in the Regular Season in NEBL. Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

The most exciting game of round 11 in the NEBL took place in Belize City. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 6th ranked Red Bandits (2-8) to seventh ranked Running Rebels (1-9) 79-76 on Friday evening. Running Rebels outrebounded Red Bandits 32-20 including 24 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for American center James Ewing (198-90, college: Mercyhurst) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds. Forward Roger Reneau helped adding 13 points. American forward Luther Page (198, college: Alabama St.) responded with 22 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Running Rebels maintains seventh place with 1-9 record. It was Red Bandits' sixth loss in a row. Defending champion keep the sixth position with eight games lost. Running Rebels are looking forward to face higher ranked Verdes (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Red Bandits will play against Hurricanes in Belize City and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Very important is a home loss of third ranked Defenders (6-3) against fifth ranked Verdes (3-6) on Friday night. Host Defenders were defeated by Verdes in a tough game in Belize City 55-62. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Defenders. It was an exceptional evening for the former international forward Richard Troyer (196-84, college: Utah Valley) who led the winners and scored 20 points and 5 rebounds. Gene Myvett accounted for 10 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. American forward Nigel Jones (201-90, college: Talladega) came up with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 15 rebounds for Defenders in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Newly promoted Verdes maintains fifth place with 3-6 record. Defenders at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keep the third position with three games lost. Verdes will play against bottom-ranked Running Rebels (#7) in Belize City in the next round. Defenders will play on the road against the league's leader Tigersharks (#1) in San Pedro and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

The best player for the winners was Martevuius Adams who had a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds. Tahj Wells produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds for the hosts. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Tigersharks maintains first place with 9-2 record. Newly promoted Dream Ballers keep the second position with two games lost. Tigersharks will meet at home Defenders (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Dream Ballers will have a break next round.



Dream Ballers - San Pedro T. 61-81

Very significant was Tigersharks' (#1, 9-2) victory against second-ranked Dream Ballers (7-2) 81-61. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Dream Ballers. Tigersharks dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Dream Ballers' 44. They outrebounded Dream Ballers 52-39 including 19 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was center Martevuius Adams who had a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds. American guard Jihad Wright (193, college: UNC Pembroke) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds. American center Tahj Wells (208-89, college: Edward Waters) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds and guard Edgar Mitchell added 5 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists respectively for the hosts. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Tigersharks maintains first place with 9-2 record. Newly promoted Dream Ballers keep the second position with two games lost. Tigersharks will meet at home Defenders (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Dream Ballers will have a break next round.

It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Defenders. It was an exceptional evening for the former international forward Richard Troyer (196-84, college: Utah Valley) who led the winners and scored 20 points and 5 rebounds. The former international forward Gene Myvett (193-82, college: CS Los Angeles) accounted for 10 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side. Four Verdes players scored in double figures. American forward Nigel Jones (201-90, college: Talladega) came up with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 15 rebounds and point guard Jacob Leslie (183-84) added 18 points respectively for Defenders in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Newly promoted Verdes maintains fifth place with 3-6 record. Defenders at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keep the third position with three games lost. Verdes will play against bottom-ranked Running Rebels (#7) in Belize City in the next round. DANIEL CONORQUE International Guard Daniel Conorque (193-G-91) had a great game in the last round for top-ranked Dream Ballers, receiving a Interperformances Player of the Week award for round 4. The 27-year old player had a double-double of 21 points and 14 rebounds, while his team beat San Pedro T. (#2, 3-2) 79-66. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. It allowed Dream Ballers to consolidate first place in the Belizean NEBL. Dream Ballers have a solid 4-1 record.    [read more]
