The undefeated Dragons entered the Firms Basketball League (FBL) playoffs as they No.1 seed after they enjoyed their ninth and 10th wins of continued at the Swift Hall in St Martin de Porres parish in Belize City last Thursday and Saturday nights, August 16-18.

Eyan Rene and Frank Williams each scored 15pts as they led the Dragons to their 10th victory: 69-60 over the BATSUB Armed Forces in Saturday's nightcap. Andrew Vasquez posted 10pts, 10 boards to lead 42-23 at intermission. Sydney 'Bucket' Bradley, Kevin Hamilton and Densford Bevans each scored six points to lead 55-39 at the end of the third quarter. The end was never in doubt, as Auburn Rivero and Stefen Dixon each threw in four points and Kenroy Usher chipped in a basket.

Raheem Zuniga led the Armed Forces with 14pts, seven boards, and Gregory Buckley snagged 20 boards, as he scored 13pts. Shaquille Crawford posted 12pts, 10 boards, and Ernest Tench put up six points. Gerald Gillett added five points, and Marcos Ifield had four points.

The Dragons had cruised to their ninth win: 70-53 over the Gladiators in last Thursday's nightcap. Auburn Rivero led with 19pts, three boards to lead 13-10 in the first quarter and Kevin Hamilton added 15pts, six boards. Sydney 'Bucket' Bradley posted 14pts, as the Dragons led 26-19 at intermission. Eyan Rene put up 10pts 12 boards, to lead 47-31 at the end of the third quarter. Devon Defour threw in six points, three boards to seal the win.

Jamaal Pollard led the Gladiators with 14pts, six boards; and Keith Pollard Jr snagged 23 boards, as he and Neil Nicholson each scored 12pts. Dave Apolonio put up seven points, and Lonnie Trapp and Delroy Faber each threw in four points.

The Gladiators fared better in their 73-69 win over the Police on Saturday afternoon. Jamal Pollard top-scored with 27pts, 11 boards, and Dave Apolonio struck thrice from outside the circle to add 15pts. Neil Nicholson followed suit from outside the arc to post 11pts, 11 boards. Delroy Faber posted eight points, four boards; Lonnie Trapp tossed in six points, and Keith Pollard Jr scored four points, five boards. Richard Barrow chipped in a basket.

Albert Longsworth led the Police with 19pts, and Linton Broaster struck thrice from outside the circle to add 13pts. Davis Guzman put up 12pts, 16 boards, and Marcus Lewis added 11pts. Sheldon Williams and Matthew Young each scored four points and Joseph Sutherland, Welton Franklin and Orlando Bowen each chipped in a basket.

The Gladiators ranked sixth in the playoffs seeding and will challenge Tuff eNuff, who clinched their berth as the No.3 seed by their seventh win: 96-79 over the Infotel Vipers on Friday evening. Douglas Valley struck five times from outside the circle to lead Tuff eNuff with 22pts, 11 boards. Russell Staine struck twice from outside the arc to add 20pts, four boards. Raheem Baptist put up 18pts, seven boards, and Elvis Olivera also drained in a 3-pointer to post 17pts, 13 boards. Tyrone 'Mission' Edwards scored nine points, eight boards; and Rico Black threw in five points. Robert Ferguson chipped in three points.

Russell Humes led Infotel with a monster 32pts, seven boards, and Andrew Martinez added 27pts, five boards. Keith Pollard scored 10pts, and Kurt Burgess (196-F-82) snagged 27 boards; as he posted nine points. Charles Armstrong threw in seven points, and Darwin 'Dawgy' Elijio chipped in a basket.

The DigiNets squeaked into the playoffs as the No.8 seed, after they posted their third win: 80-66 over winless Belikin. Travis Lennan hit a 3-pointer for 33pts, and Herman Ramos struck twice from outside the circle to add 13pts, 10 boards. Ed Thompson snagged 19 boards, scoring nine points on the putback, and Tyler Myvette had eight points, eight boards. Chaka X threw in four points, seven boards and Lupito Acosta chipped in three points.

Kadeem Olivera struck six times from outside the circle to lead the brewers with a monster 37pts, snagging 17pts boards. Naphtali Watters put up 16pts, nine boards and Clive Reyes posted seven points. Luis Ayuso added four points and Gerald Sanchez chipped in a basket.
