Bermudas enjoy the PBL All-Star Game Basketball becomes a part and parcel of life on Bermudas as the different competitions are going on around with lots of talented basketballers taking part. Recently the first ever annual PBL All-Star weekend took place. The All-Star game was traditionally preceded by all kinds of entertaining skills contests. The events were held at the MSA Stadium attracting dozen of basketball fans. Adam Correia of the Southampton Titans celebrated the title in the Skills contest. Later Chris Crumpler from the Paget Bear Cats won the three-point shootout contest. The All-Star Weekend action continued with the All-Star Game itself and the spectators had a chance to watch a spectacular performance. East All-Stars prevailed in a sizzling basketball show beating West team 99:94. Steven Simons (-82) of the Smiths Wild Cats was trumped the Games MVP. He topscored for the winners with 30 points. Jason Simons contributed 17 points for the Eastern team. Chris Crumpler came up with game-high 34 points for West. Meanwhile the action in the Bermuda Basketball Premier Division resumed shortly after an All-Star Game pause. St. Georges International defeated Hamilton Parish Chargers 74:42. Charjuan Knights and Dean Jones (198-F-83) contributed 19 points apiece to lead the victors. Calvert Lee answered with 15 points for the Chargers. The Devonshire Dragons outgunned the Southampton Titans 60:40 behind 25 points from Ian Lim. |
