Tsunami are the new one Island Basketball League Champions, after they defeated he Flyboys 81 - 54 to take Game 2 of the Best of 3 and raise the Ryan Brunson Trophy in their first year as an expansion team. Regular season MVP Dean Jones also captured the Finals MVP Award. Jones in Game Two scored 31 points as there was no answer in stopping him and putting him there right with Chris Crumpler (191-G/F-83) as the Island Best Basketball player. Bermuda Island Basketball Regular Season Awards - Mar 7, 2017
With the 2016/17 Bermuda Island Basketball regular League Season now over, awards are started to be handed out. Kobie Reid from the Thundercats picked up two awards. Reid was awarded the Tim Trott Young Player of the Year Award. He was also the recipient of the League's Most Improved Player. Reid was part of the Digicel Jumpstart Experience, a Digicel and the National Basketball Association (NBA) collaboration that saw other players from Bermuda including Caelin Peters, Jorel Smith and Ishan-Nae Smith selected by former NBA head coach Lionel Hollins, NBA Legend Robert Horry and WNBA player Skylar Diggins following their participation in the Digicel NBA Jumpstart Elite Camp in September. West victorious in IBL All-Star Game - Apr 17, 2017
The Bermuda Island Basketball Season came to a close inside the Cedarbridge Academy Gymnasium, with the playing of their All-Star Game. The West defeated the east 103 - 90 in a high scoring game. Jah'nique Hogan scored 22 points to lead the West to victory, while regular season and championship game MVP Dean Jones scored 20 points for the East.
