de San Simon completed a sweep over Vikingos de Tarija, 3-0, in the finals of
Bolivia's fourth edition of Liga Boliviana de Basquetbol (Libobasquet), Torneo
Clausura 2015 of the country's main pro league. San Simon won the third game of
the series, 109-108 in over time, thanks to a couple of free throws scored byDiego Olguin(G-95) at Grover Suarez
Coliseum.
It was the 17th consecutive victory for Universidad de San Simon, so they became
undefeated champions of Bolivia and ended a streak of teams from Tarija winning
the national tournament.
A three-point shot by reserve playerPedro Gutierrez(PG) forced an overtime
when Vikingos was ahead 95-92. Vikingos was ahead again, 108-107, butDiego Olguinscored a couple of
free-throws to win the match.
Universidad de San Simon has won the right to play for Bolivia's only spot in
the next edition of Liga Sudamericana. They will face the champions of the 5th
edition of Libobasquet, set to begin on March of 2016.
"I'm very happy. The feeling can't be described with words. We're undefeated
champions. In such a close game, that is the best spectacle we can provide for
the people that came", said playerCristhian Camargo(F-92) (San Simon).
"It's an added pleasure to win this championship as an undefeated team and to
win it this way, with such a tight scoreboard, it's a satisfaction that I carry
in my heart and is impossible to explain", added head coachSandro Patino(San Simon).

Club Vikingos celebrate Libobasquet title - Jul 10, 2015
Club Vikingos celebrated the Liga Boliviana de Basquetbol title. They outgunned La Salle 91:76 in the third game of the championship series to complete the sweep. Jason Jones (198-F-90, college: Middle Tenn.St.) helped Vikingos to a great start. He sank 10 points in the first period giving them a 21:18 lead. Vikingos recorded a 51:43 halftime lead. The hosts held La Salle to just 8 points in the third term to boost their lead. Vikingos never looked back afterwards marching to the win. Jason Jones and Michael Badney led the effort for the champions.
