Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Carl A-Z (2-1) in Sucre on Tuesday night. Visitors were defeated by fourth ranked Amistad (2-1) 98-92. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Carl A-Z. 25 personal fouls committed by Carl A-Z helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American forward Luther Page (201-93, college: Alabama St.) orchestrated the victory by scoring 27 points and 7 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field). Nigerian-American guard George Williams (198-90, college: Wayland Baptist) contributed with 24 points for the winners. American forward Khapri Alston (196, college: Midwestern St.) answered with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 16 rebounds for Carl A-Z. Amistad moved-up to third place, which they share with defeated Carl A-Z. Amistad is looking forward to face La Salle CBBA (#5) in Cochabamba in the next round. Carl A-Z will play at home against the league's leader Calero and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
An interesting game for Pichincha (3-2) which hosted in Pichincha second-ranked Penarol (2-2). Third ranked Pichincha had an easy win 112-81. It was a key game for the second position in the league. American forward Trevante Drye (199-93, college: Tulane) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!) and 11 rebounds (on 15-of-18 shooting from the field) for the winners and Rene Calvo chipped in 23 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Guard Diondre Pratt (193-94, college: Johnson C. Smith) responded with 25 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Pichincha have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to second place. Penarol at the other side dropped to the third position with two games lost. Pichincha will play against Univ. Santa Cruz (#6) in the next round. Penarol will play against the league's leader La Salle Tarija and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Bottom-ranked Univ. Santa Cruz is still unable to win any game. This time they lost on the road their fifth consecutive match to fifth ranked Rubair (2-3) 77-61. The best player for the winners was Gregory Curvelo who had a double-double by scoring 23 points, 22 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals. Rubair moved-up to fourth place. Univ. Santa Cruz at the other side, also newcomer in the league, still closes the standings with five games lost. Rubair's next round opponent will be AND1 La Paz (#5) on the road. Univ. Santa Cruz will play against the league's second-placed Pichincha and looks forward to get finally their first victory.

In the last game of round 5 La Salle CBBA was smashed by CAN Oruro on the road 96-74.
The most impressive performance of 5th round was 26 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists by Agustin Ambrosino of CAN Oruro.



Vikingos - Calero 74-94

Libobasque top team - Calero (3-0) had no problems winning another game on Tuesday. This time they crushed sixth ranked Vikingos (0-4) in Tarija 94-74. Calero forced 23 Vikingos turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Vikingos' players. American guard Louis Munks (190-90, college: Prairie View A&M) nailed a double-double by scoring 18 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side and the former international point guard Ronald Arze (175-93) accounted for 20 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Brazilian center Rafael Rodrigues (213-87) came up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds and American guard Prince Samuels (190, college: Gloucester CC) added 22 points respectively for Vikingos in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Calero have a solid series of three victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 3-0 record. Loser Vikingos still closes the standings with four games lost. Calero will meet Carl A-Z (#4) in the next round. Vikingos will play against the league's second-placed CAN Oruro and hope to get finally their first victory.

Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. The best player for the winners was Argentinian Agustin Ambrosino (203-90, college: BYU) who scored 26 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. International point guard Pedro Gutierrez (175-96) chipped in 22 points and 6 assists. Ambrosino is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four CAN Oruro players scored in double figures. American forward Joe Efese (198, college: Cent.Conn.St.) produced 23 points and 8 rebounds and Uruguayan forward Miguel Barriola (191-90) added 11 points and 13 rebounds respectively for the guests. La Salle CBBA's coach gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. CAN Oruro moved-up to second place.
