There are only two more rounds left in the Regular Season in Libobasque. Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

Libobasque round 8 caused change at the leadership position. First defeat of league's leader Calero (5-1) against second ranked CAN Oruro (5-1) 88-83 was the most important game of the last round. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Calero. It was a key game for the top position in the league. CAN Oruro made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Calero 51-31 including a 35-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. American forward Howard Crawford (205-88, college: UAB) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 13 rebounds. Argentinian Agustin Ambrosino (203-90, college: BYU) contributed with 13 points and 16 rebounds for the winners. American guard Louis Munks (190-90, college: Prairie View A&M) replied with 19 points and 6 rebounds for Calero. CAN Oruro have a solid three-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with defeated Calero. Calero will play next round against strong La Salle CBBA trying to make it back to the top of the standings. CAN Oruro will try to continue on its current victory against fifth ranked Amistad in Sucre.
Important game to mention about took place in Tarija. Sixth ranked Vikingos (1-5) saved a 3-point victory at home edging 3rd ranked Amistad (3-3) 77-74 on Tuesday evening. Worth to mention a great performance of Brazilian center Rafael Rodrigues (213-87) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) and Prince Samuels who added 24 points during the contest. Nigerian-American guard George Williams (198-90, college: Wayland Baptist) responded with a double-double by scoring 32 points and 12 rebounds. Vikingos maintains sixth position with 1-5 record, which they share with AND1 La Paz. Amistad at the other side dropped to the fourth place with three games lost. They share the position with La Salle CBBA. Vikingos will play against higher ranked Carl A-Z (#3) in Oruro in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Amistad will play at home against the league's leader CAN Oruro and hopes to get back on the winning track.
An interesting game for Rubair (4-4) which played road game in Quillacollo against 4th ranked Penarol (2-5). Third ranked Rubair managed to get a 7-point victory 98-91. The winners were led by Reimer Machado who scored that evening 35 points (!!!), 8 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals. Rubair's coach Jorge Montes used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 29 points and 9 rebounds by Milos Petkovic did not help to save the game for Penarol. Rubair moved-up to second place. Penarol lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fourth position with five games lost. Rubair will meet at home league's leader La Salle Tarija in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Penarol will play against Univ. Santa Cruz and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

They dropped to the sixth position with five games lost. Univ. Santa Cruz's next round opponent will be higher ranked Penarol (#4) in Quillacollo and it may be quite challenging game. AND1 La Paz will play at home against Carl A-Z and hope to win that game.



Univ. Santa Cruz - AND1 La Paz 96-66

The game in supposed to be also worth to mention about. 5th ranked AND1 La Paz (1-5) played at the court of sixth ranked Univ. Santa Cruz (2-6). Univ. Santa Cruz smashed AND1 La Paz 96-66. Univ. Santa Cruz dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to AND1 La Paz's 32. Univ. Santa Cruz forced 30 AND1 La Paz turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by AND1 La Paz's players. The best player for the winners was Spanish-American forward Duane James (196-83, college: Binghamton) who scored 24 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). American center Wendell Lewis (208-89, college: Alabama St., agency: HMS) chipped in 20 points and 7 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). James is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Four Univ. Santa Cruz players scored in double figures. Cuban power forward Daniel Nembhard (204-91) produced 20 points and 7 rebounds and Dariel Maza added 14 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the guests. AND1 La Paz's coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Univ. Santa Cruz moved-up to fifth place. AND1 La Paz lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the sixth position with five games lost. Univ. Santa Cruz's next round opponent will be higher ranked Penarol (#4) in Quillacollo and it may be quite challenging game. AND1 La Paz will play at home against Carl A-Z and hope to win that game.

MILOS PETKOVIC San Martin Corrientes (La Liga) landed 27-year old Serbian power forward Milos Petkovic (204-100kg-91). He played in the summer at Calero in Bolivian Libobasquet.
