CAN Oruro - Pichincha 80-72

CAN Oruro edged Pichincha to advance into the semifinal stage. The hosts were already 14 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 24-18 Pichincha's run in the last quarter cut the lead to 80-72 at the end of the game. CAN Oruro dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Pichincha's 32. They outrebounded Pichincha 46-33 including a 34-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. American power forward Howard Crawford (205-88, college: UAB) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds for the winners and Argentinian power forward Agustin Ambrosino (203-90, college: BYU) chipped in 20 points and 6 rebounds. Ambrosino is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. The former international swingman Carlos Romero (190-84) responded with 18 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists and the former international swingman Rene Calvo (193-93) scored 22 points.

Rubair - La Salle CBBA 86-80

Rubair held off La Salle CBBA to reach the semis. La Salle CBBA was trailing by 1 point at halftime but managed to get 5-point lead after three quarters before a 23-12 charge of Rubair, which allowed them to win the game. They dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to La Salle CBBA's 34. Rubair forced 21 La Salle CBBA turnovers and outrebounded them 51-31 including a 21-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. Venezuelan guard Reimer Machado (185-89) orchestrated the victory by scoring 29 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals. Venezuelan point guard Eduardo Rios (182-88) contributed with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Rubair's coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Uruguayan Miguel Barriola (191-90) answered with 23 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists and the former international guard Diego Olguin (186-95) added 24 points and 5 assists in the effort for La Salle CBBA. Four La Salle CBBA players scored in double figures.

La Salle Tarija outgunned Amistad to stay in the title chase. The hosts trailed by 8 points at the halftime before their 40-24 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. La Salle Tarija dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Amistad's 28. La Salle Tarija forced 21 Amistad turnovers. Nigerian-American George Williams (198-90, college: Wayland Baptist) came up with 27 points and 9 rebounds (was perfect 14-for-14 from the free throw line !!!) and Belizean forward Devin Daly (195-94, college: L.Superior) added 19 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Amistad in the defeat. Amistad's coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help.

Worth to mention a great performance of Spanish Adriano Barrera (-92) who helped to win the game recording 40 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds. JEFFREY FAHNBULLEH CAN Potosi (Libobasquet) signed experienced 34-year old American power forward Jeffrey Fahnbulleh (200-122kg-85). The last time (18) he played at Palanga BC in Lithuanian NKL league. Fahnbulleh missed last season and had one year break from professional basketball. The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others Fahnbulleh won Peruvian LNB championship title in 2015. DE'VAUGHN JONES Carl A-Z Oruro (Libobasquet) landed American forward De'Vaughn Jones (196-93kg, college: Midwestern State). He played in the summer at Central District Lions in Australian Premier League. In 9 games he averaged impressive 16.8ppg, 8.6rpg, 1.3apg and 1.3spg. Jones' college team won LSC Tournament in 2016.
