Libobasquet Round 9 (Regular Season): Aleman lose to Univ. San Simon

There was a change at the Libobasquet leadership position after last games. Round 9 most important game was a defeat of league's leader Aleman (6-2). They were crushed by second ranked Univ. San Simon (6-1) 79-60 on Saturday night. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Aleman. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Univ. San Simon forced 21 Aleman turnovers. 27 personal fouls committed by Aleman helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The former international swingman Marcela Viscarra (169-1990) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and the former international guard Danitza Parra (158-1985) chipped in 17 points and 5 rebounds. The best for the losing side was Keyla Huayllas (-1993) with 12 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Univ. San Simon have an impressive series of six victories in a row. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader. Aleman at the other side dropped to the second place with two games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Univ. San Simon. Aleman will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest and make it back to the top of the standings. Univ. San Simon will try to continue on its current victory against fourth ranked Uriona at home.
The game in supposed to be also worth to mention about. Leader Club de Tenis (5-0) played at the court of 6th ranked Orca (1-4). Club de Tenis smashed Orca 69-47. Chilean Guadalupe Mogro (-1999) nailed 18 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side and Susana Flores accounted for 16 points. Club de Tenis' coach felt very confident using entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Rhea Corchero came up with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) for Orca in the defeat. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Club de Tenis. They maintain third place with 5-0 record behind leader Univ. San Simon. Orca at the other side keeps the sixth position with four games lost. Club de Tenis will play against Carl A-Z (#5) in Oruro in the next round. Orca will play against La Salle and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last game of round 9 Bolmar was destroyed by Uriona on the opponent's court 95-74.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 23 points, 13 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals by Betcy Campos of Uriona.

Rather expected game when 7th ranked Bolmar (1-6) was crushed on the road by fifth ranked Uriona (5-2) 95-74. Uriona dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Bolmar's 28. Uriona forced 19 Bolmar turnovers and outrebounded them 65-38 including a 43-26 advantage in defensive rebounds. Uriona players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Betcy Campos nailed a double-double by scoring 23 points, 13 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals for the winning side and Estefany Copa accounted for 19 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists. Nicole Rodriguez came up with 23 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and Barbara Chambi added 23 points and 4 steals respectively for Bolmar in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Uriona moved-up to fourth place. Bolmar lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the seventh position with six games lost. Uriona will play against league's leader Univ. San Simon in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Bolmar will play against Potosi Mun. (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
