Sampaio Basquete Wins Fourth LBF Title, Closes Out Finals Series 3-1-Aug 3, 2026
Sampaio Basquete are champions of Brazil's LBF Loterias Caixa for the fourth time, closing out the finals series with an 81-49 win over Unimed Campinas in Game 4, played on the home floor of Tenis Clube de Campinas. The result gave the Maranhao-based club a 3-1 series victory and cemented another chapter in what is now a genuinely dominant championship history.
The game itself stayed tight for the opening stretch, with both sides trading possessions and working the ball deep into the clock against well-organized defenses. But Sampaio gradually pulled away as the game progressed, capitalizing on second-chance opportunities and converting Unimed Campinas's mistakes into fast-break points. The home side had its moments of quality throughout, but Sampaio made the most of nearly every opening it created, and once the visitors had built a comfortable cushion, they controlled the pace the rest of the way through to the final buzzer.
The title is Sampaio's fourth in the competition's history, joining previous championships in 2015-16, 2019 and 2022 a run that keeps the club at the top of Brazilian women's basketball. Mariana Dias (186-C-1993) was named MVP of the deciding game, finishing as the most efficient player on the floor with 14 points, two rebounds and an efficiency rating of 16. Monique Soares (190-C-1996) was named Finals MVP for her consistency and competitiveness across all four games of the series.
