LDB Serie Ouro: Sao Jose Basketball Wins First LDB Title, Holds Off Corinthians in High-Intensity Final-Sep 20, 2026
Sao Jose Basketball claimed its first Liga de Desenvolvimento de Basquete title, beating Corinthians 81-68 in the Serie Ouro final at Ginasio Wlamir Marques in Sao Paulo on Saturday. The interior Sao Paulo club built an early cushion, weathered a physical push from Corinthians in front of the home crowd, and stayed composed through a dramatic finish to secure the biggest win in the program's history.
Sao Jose set the tone from the opening tip, using its transition offense to punish gaps in Corinthians' defense and closing the first quarter ahead 22-12. Corinthians came out of the break with more aggression, opening the second period on a 7-0 run and eventually winning the quarter 26-20, but Sao Jose adjusted its pace, leaned more heavily on interior scoring, and still carried a 42-38 lead into halftime. The third quarter belonged entirely to Sao Jose, which opened with a 9-0 run and held Corinthians to just 9 points over the full period while scoring 22 of its own, stretching the lead to 17 points and taking a commanding 64-47 edge into the fourth.
Corinthians made one last push in the final period, ratcheting up defensive pressure and playing with urgency in front of its fans, and the hosts did outscore Sao Jose 21-17 down the stretch. But Sao Jose's cushion proved too large to overcome, and the team showed enough poise in the closing possessions to close out the 81-68 win and claim the Serie Ouro crown for the first time. Isaque Duarte (204-C-2006) was dominant inside, finishing with a double-double of 18 points and 16 rebounds to go with 3 blocks and an efficiency rating of 22. Jackson Oliveira (184-SG-2006) Jr. added 15 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists, and Jonathan Moreira (186-PG-2006) rounded out a balanced performance with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Filipe Souza knocked down 18 points for Corinthians.
"The path God laid out for us was perfect. We just had to follow it, lend Him a hand, and He pulled us through. I also want to thank my family, because without them none of this would have been possible. In every moment of pain, everyone thought about giving up at some point, and it was them who never let us give up. I also want to thank my teammates and my coaches, who trusted me as a leader to do this work. And my last thank-you goes to everyone who didn't believe in us. That only motivated us to be better and to win this LDB," said Gabriel Pessoa, the team's captain, who lifted the championship trophy.
