Ourinhos claim the fifth straight title
Ourinhos clinched the fifth straight title in the CNBF. Yesterday the most renowned Brazilian team overcame Unimed/Americana in the fourth game of the Final series to triumph.
Unimed/Americana saved the game in Game 3 when they eked out a narrow 74:73 but they failed to repeat the success in the fourth game of the best-of-five series. Ourinhos got to the better start as they enjoyed a 17:14 lead after ten minutes of action. However Unimed/Americana were not about to give up. They bounced back in the second frame making it a tie game 36:36 at the interval. Ourinhos used a 19:12 run in the third frame to build a crucial advantage in this one. Karla da Costa (173-G-78) tried to fuel a comeback effort from the hosts as they trimmed the distance. But Ourinhos withheld all the efforts and earned the decisive victory at the end.
Micaela Jacintho (180-F-79) paced the winners with 22 points. Jucimara Dantas (192-C-78) added 19 points and 10 boards for the winners. Karla da Costa notched game-high 25 points for Unimed/Americana. Carina de Souza (185-C-79) and Karina Jacob (187-F/C-85) had 10 points each in the losing effort.
Micaela Jacintho was trumped the MVP of the championship.
