Santo Andre became the champions of the first edition of Liga Basquete Feminino in Brazil. They held off Ourinhos in the title decider yesterday. Micaela Jacinhto scored 15 points to lead the winners.
Santo Andre jumped to an early lead. They recorded an 18:10 buffer at the first break. Ourinhos however quickly recovered and dominated in the second term. They 27:26 halftime lead. Santo Andre went off the dressing room firing from all guns. They outgunned Ourinhos 20:7 in the third period to ensure a comfortable 12-point buffer before the fourth quarter. Ourinhos tried hard but Santo Andre were better yesterday triumphing at the end.
Ariadna Felipe (179-G/F-83) notched 14 points and 8 rebounds for Santo Andre. Ega Garvao (186-C-77, agency: J.Martin and N.San Jose) added 13 points in the victory. Djane Santos (182-F-88) answered with 15 points for Ourinhos. Bethania Vasconcelos (178-G/F-81) delivered 12 points in the loss.
