Carvalho's double-double lands him Player of the Week award

Vitor Carvalho

21-year old center Vitor Carvalho (204-C-2004) had a great game in the last round for Flamengo Rio de Janeiro U20 team and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 4.
He had a double-double of 16 points and 15 rebounds, while his team crushed Uniao Corinthians (2-4) with 23-point margin 88-65. The game rather meaningless between the teams, which do not have any influence on top of the standings. Flamengo is placed at 15th position in Brazilian league. Flamengo is rather a weak team placed in lower part in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 2-4 record. In the team's last game Carvalho had a remarkable 60.0% from 2-point range. He just recently signed at Flamengo, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Carvalho has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in rebounds (5th best: 11.8rpg) and averages solid 1.2bpg.

Second best performed player last round was Fernando Fernandes (196-G-2005) of Minas Tenis Clube Belo Horizon. U20 team. He is a guard in his first season at Minas. In the last game Fernandes recorded an impressive triple-double of 13 points, 15 rebounds and 11 assists. Of course he led Minas to another comfortable win outscoring the lower-ranked Osasco (#17, 2-4) 100-54. This victory allowed Minas to move up to 7th position in the standings. His team lost some distance to top teams. But a 4-2 record is not bad and everything may still change. Fernandes is one of the most experienced players at Minas and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

Third place about best performers goes to center Joao Almeida (200-C-2004) of UniFacisa Paraiba U20 team (#24). Almeida scored 24 points and grabbed 13 rebounds (!!!). Despite Almeida's great performance the UniFacisa lost 69-93 to the higher-ranked Pato (#9, 4-2). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. UniFacisa can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have awful season losing so far all 6 games. Almeida has individually a great season in Brazil. After only 5 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 16.0ppg (3rd best).
