We should mention about the upset which took place in Bauru, where higher ranked Fluminense (7-6) lost to sixteenth ranked Bauru (5-8) in a road game 60-67 on Sunday. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Fluminense. The best player for the winners was Marcelo Vinicius (-2005) who had a double-double by scoring 16 points, 8 rebounds, 11 assists and 6 steals. Guard Alerrandro Padilha (185-2004) chipped in 17 points and 6 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Joao Silva (186) who recorded 20 points and 6 rebounds. Bauru moved-up to fifteenth place, which they share with Cruzeiro. Fluminense at the other side keeps the eleventh position with six games lost. They share it with Mogi and Campo Mourao. Bauru is looking forward to face higher ranked Botafogo (#14) in Rio de Janeiro in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Fluminense will play on the road against Rio Claro in Sao Paulo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

It was a good game for forward Nathan Balangio (193-2005) who led his team to a victory with 12 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Joao Alves contributed with 15 points for the winners. Forward Pietro Agliardi (198-2006) replied with 14 points and 7 rebounds for Rio Claro. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Botafogo maintains fourteenth position with 6-7 record. Rio Claro at the other side keeps the eighth place with five games lost. They share the position with Flamengo. Botafogo will play against Bauru (#16) at home in the next round. Rio Claro will play against Fluminense (#12) and hopes to get back on the winning track.

The best for the losing side was Bruno Santos with 23 points and 8 rebounds. Mogi have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Campo Mourao and Fluminense. Mogi will meet Cruzeiro (#15) in the next round. Campo Mourao will play against Flamengo (#8) in Rio de Janeiro and hope to secure a win.

In the last game of round 18 Flamengo defeated Cruzeiro in Rio de Janeiro 97-80.




Mogi - Campo Mourao 92-72:

There was no surprise in Belo Horizonte where 15th ranked Cruzeiro (5-8) was defeated by tenth ranked Flamengo (8-5) 97-80 on Sunday. Flamengo dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Cruzeiro's 26. They outrebounded Cruzeiro 49-31 including a 34-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Guard Yan do Valle (184-2006) scored 26 points and 6 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and guard Otavio Harnbaker (182-2007) chipped in 21 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was guard Joao Kopper (195-2004) with 18 points and 5 rebounds and guard Icaro Almeida (191-2004) scored 11 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals. Four Cruzeiro players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. Flamengo moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Rio Claro. Loser Cruzeiro keeps the fifteenth position with eight games lost. They share it with Bauru. Flamengo will meet at home Campo Mourao (#13) in the next round where they are favorite. Cruzeiro will play against Mogi and hope to secure a win.
