Cardoso's double-double lands him Hoops Agents Player of the Week award

21-year old power forward Lucas Cardoso (203-F/C-2005) had a great game in the last round for Sport Club Corinthians Paulista and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 19.
He had a double-double of 21 points and 10 rebounds, while his team beat Minas (#5, 11-3) 71-63. Corinthians was forced-out from the top positions in Brazilian league. They are still close to the very top. Corinthians would have been even better if they kept winning the games like in the last round. They have a solid 12-2 record. Cardoso turned to be Corinthians' top player in his first season with the team. Cardoso has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in points (8th best: 15.5ppg), rebounds (2nd best: 11.8rpg) and averages solid 1.2bpg and 71.2% FGP.

Second best performed player last round was Wendell Vasconcelos (180-PG-2007) of Mogi das Cruzes Basquete. He is a guard in his first season at Mogi. In the last game Vasconcelos recorded an impressive 32 points, 2 rebounds and 6 assists. Of course he led Mogi to another comfortable win outscoring the lower-ranked Cruzeiro (#16, 5-9) 114-82. The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the title. But Mogi managed to improve slightly their position in standings taking 9th place. His team lost some distance to top teams. But a 8-6 record is not bad and everything may still change. Vasconcelos is a newcomer at Mogi and quickly became one of team's most reliable players.

Third place about best performers goes to swingman Bruno Gusmao (191-G/F) of Flamengo Rio de Janeiro U20 team (#8). Gusmao scored 27 points and grabbed 11 rebounds (!!!). He was a key player of Flamengo, leading his team to a 86-84 win against the lower-ranked Campo Mourao (#12, 7-7). Flamengo needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 9 victories and 5 lost games. Gusmao has a very solid season. In 14 games in Brazil he scored 4.3ppg.
