LDB Round 20 (Regular Season): #1 Paulistano is defeated by Minas

Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Paulistano (13-1) in Belo Horizonte on Tuesday night. Visitors were defeated by fifth ranked Minas (11-3) 78-70. Minas dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Paulistano's 24. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Bruno Ribeiro (199-2005) who helped to win the game recording 28 points and 7 rebounds and swingman Antonio Ramos (191-2006) who added 20 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Venezuelan point guard Edson Urbina (180) responded with 17 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals. Paulistano's coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Minas maintains fifth position with 11-3 record. Paulistano at the other side still keeps top place with one game lost.
Very significant was Paulistano's (#2) just 1-point road victory against top-ranked Corinthians 67-66. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Corinthians. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The winners were led by guard Vitor Silva (188-2004) who scored that evening 14 points and 8 rebounds and Edson Urbina supported him with 14 points and 5 rebounds. Paulistano's coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even 17 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists by power forward Lucas Cardoso (203-2005) did not help to save the game for Corinthians. Paulistano (13-1) keeps a position of league leader. Corinthians at the other side dropped to the second place with two games lost. They share the position with Sao Jose and Pinheiros.
Another interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Sao Paulo: Pinheiros (#1) and Franca (#7). Despite it looked like an easy game for Pinheiros, those rules do not exist in derby games. It's more the case of honor for local supporters and such games have that special and unique approach you cannot find in other games. Host Franca challenged much higher ranked Pinheiros giving them a very tough game, but finally losing it by five points 85-80. The best player for the winners was Lucca Boracina who scored 22 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Vinicius dos Santos produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Pinheiros (12-2) have an impressive eight-game winning streak. Despite that victory Pinheiros went down to second position due to points difference, which they share with Corinthians and Sao Jose. SESI Franca lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with five games lost. They share the position with Flamengo.

There were no shocking results in the other games in round 20: Sao Jose won against Caxias do Sul on the opponent's court 68-63. Pato unfortunately lost to Corinthians in a home game 86-92. SESI Franca recorded a loss to Caxias do Sul on the road 55-72. Pinheiros was defeated by Sao Jose on its own court 61-69. Pato was smashed by Minas in Belo Horizonte 102-70.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 13 points and 9 rebounds by Luiggi Fachin of Corinthians.
