Paulistano lands Paulo Prestes - Oct 17, 2016

E-mail Paulo:
Paulo's Articles

Paulistano/Unimed Sao Paolo (Paulista) tabbed 28-year old former Brazilian international center Paulo Prestes (211-120kg-88). He has a double citizenship as he also holds Spanish passport. Prestes has played for the last two years at Mogi in the Paulista. In 32 games he averaged 6.7ppg and 4.0rpg last season. Prestes helped them to make it to the semifinals. He also played 7 games in Liga Americas where he had 5.4ppg and 3.4rpg.
In 2010 Prestes was drafted by Minnesota Timberwolves (NBA) in second round (45th overall).
Among other achievements his team won Paulista League Group B Regular Season in 2015. Prestes received also All-Brazilian League Center of the Year award in 2014.
He was also a member of Brazilian international program for some years. Prestes played for Brazilian Senior National Team between 2006 and 2013 and previously for U18 National Team between 2005 and 2006.
He also represented Brazil at the World Championships U19 in Novi Sad (Serbia) nine years ago. Prestes' team got to the Semifinals and his stats at that event were 9 games: 23.0ppg, 14.7rpg, 1.2apg, 1.1spg, 2FGP: 58.5%, 3FGP: 14.3%, FT: 73%.
And here thanks to pro basketball Prestes experienced life on three different continents. He is familiar with European, Latin American and of course North American leagues. Prestes has played previously professionally also in Lithuania (P.Zvaigzdes) and Spain (Unicaja Malaga, UCAM Murcia, CB Granada, Gran Canaria and Unicaja B Malaga) and Brazil (Vivo/Franca, COC Ribeirao, Brasilia and Sao Jose/Vinac).
Let's have closer look into His outlook: (by Vinicius Fontana for in 2010)
Has a tremendous body: with a massive wingspan with great hands. Possesses good size for a center, not extremely tall but tall enough to make impact because of his solid weight and length ... He knows how to use his strength to create space on the block; can use his wingspan to finish near the rim and his soft hands to receive the ball in every position ... Loves contact, is a post guy and very intense near the basket.
Not extremely athletic. He's not a leaper and has a lot to do to improve his inside game ... Paulo's body is under construction, seems to be a little fat but has all conditions to change his weight into solid muscle if he works hard
