We bring you last week's top performances from Brazilians who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.

   #1. This week's number one is an experienced international point guard Marcelinho Huertas (191-83, currently plays in Spain). He contributed to an easy victory against the eighth-ranked Valencia Basket (3-4) crushing them 77-56 in the Spanish Liga Endesa in Sunday night's game. Huertas had a double-double by scoring 10 points and making 11 passes in 23 minutes on the court. Kirolbet Baskonia Vitoria (6-1) is placed first in the Liga Endesa. It was his team's fifth consecutive victory in a row. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. This year Huertas averages: 6.7ppg, 1.9rpg, 5.0apg, 2FGP: 60.9%(14-23), 3FGP: 55.6% in seven games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Brazilian and Italian. Huertas is currently a member of the Brazilian senior national team.

Gerson Santo

   #2. Second place goes to former international center Gerson Santo (206-91, college: Colorado St., currently plays in Argentina). He contributed to a 3-point Weber Bahia's victory against the fourth-ranked Quilmes MP (3-5) 62-59 in the Argentinian La Liga last Tuesday. Santo scored 9 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. Weber Bahia Blanca Basket (3-5) is placed fifth in Group D. Santo's overall stats this season are: 5.5ppg, 7.1rpg, 2FGP: 48.1% and FT: 76.9%. He played for the Brazilian national team in 2016.

   #3. The Brazilian player who performed third best last week abroad was former international center Hatila Passos (211-85, college: N.Mexico St., currently plays in Uruguay). Passos led Malvin to a victory against the tenth-ranked Bigua (3-4) 71-63 in a derby game in the Uruguayan LUB on Monday night. He had a double-double by scoring 11 points and getting 22 rebounds in 39 minutes. Malvin Montevideo (5-2) is placed second in the LUB. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. The Regular Season already ended. Passos has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 15.2ppg, 11.3rpg, 2FGP: 68.1%(32-47) and FT: 75.0% in six games. Passos is another player who holds two passports: Brazilian and Uruguayan. Former Paulistano/Unimed Sao Paolo starter played for the Brazilian national team eight years ago.

   #4. Point guard Caio Pacheco (190-99, currently plays in Argentina) is a teammate of previously mentioned Gerson Santo. But that was another game of his team in Argentinian La Liga which we would like to mention. Pacheco. He could not help Weber Bahia (3-5) to beat San Lorenzo (7-1). Pacheco was the second best scorer with 9 points. But the fifth-placed Weber Bahia (3-5) was defeated 70-63 at home by the leading San Lorenzo in the Group D. Pacheco's overall stats this season are: 5.9ppg, 2.2rpg and 2.1apg. He is also Brazilian U21 national team player.

   #5. International shooting guard Vitor Benite (192-90, currently plays in EuroCup) was not able to help Cedevita (2-3) in their last game. Despite Benite's good performance Cedevita (#5) lost 89-94 on the road to the higher-ranked (#4) Tofas in the group B of Eurocup. He scored 12 points in only a mere 14 minutes. Benite has relatively good stats this year: 12.0ppg, 1.8rpg and 1.6apg in five games. He plays currently for the Brazilian national team.

   #6. Center Caio Silveira Torres (211-87, agency: Interperformances, currently plays in Argentina) contributed to a Olimpico de La Banda's victory against the leader Estudiantes Concordia (5-3) 80-66 in the Argentinian La Liga on Sunday night. Silveira Torres recorded 8 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists. Ciclista Olimpico de La Banda (3-5) is placed fifth in Group B. Silveira Torres' overall stats this season are: 8.9ppg and 5.2rpg. He is a former international player as he played for the Brazilian senior team five years ago.

   #7. Former international power forward Cristiano Felicio (206-92, college: Oregon, currently plays in NBA) was not able to secure a victory for the Chicago Bulls (3-8) in their game against the Indiana Pacers (7-4) in the NBA. He scored 9 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. But the Chicago Bulls (3-8) were edged 107-105 in Indianapolis by the Indiana Pacers. It was Bulls' fourth consecutive loss in a row. But the season just started, so everything may happen. Felicio's overall stats this year are: 5.9ppg and 5.7rpg. He used to play for the Brazilian national team two years ago.

   #8. Point guard Rafael Freire Luz (188-92, currently plays in EuroCup) couldn't help Andorra (2-3) in their game against Monaco (4-1) in the Eurocup. Freire Luz scored 8 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 19 minutes. Andorra (#5) lost 73-81 on the opponent's court to the second-ranked Monaco in the group A of Eurocup. This year Freire Luz's overall stats are: 3.6ppg, 2.8rpg and 3.6apg in five games. He used to play for the Brazilian national team back in 2016.

Former U18 international center Dida Pereira (202-92, college: Sequoias CC, currently plays in Chile) was the major contributor in an Osorno Basquetbol's victory against the second-ranked Las Animas (4-4) 78-69 in the Chilean Liga Nacional in Saturday night's game. Pereira recorded a double-double by scoring 20 points and getting 15 rebounds; quite an impressive performance considering it's only his third season in pro basketball. Osorno Basquetbol (3-6) is placed sixth in Conferencia Sur. This season Pereira has very high stats. He averages: 18.3ppg, 8.6rpg and 1.4apg. Pereira used to play for the Brazilian U18 national team eight years ago.

   #10. Center Lucas Nogueira (213-92, currently plays in Spain) helped Baloncesto Fuenlabrada win their game against the second-ranked FC Barcelona (6-1) 79-73 in the Spanish Liga Endesa last Saturday. He recorded 6 points in only 13 minutes. Montakit Fuenlabrada (3-4) is placed 12th in the Liga Endesa. But the season is still in it's first stage and everything can happen. This year Nogueira's total stats are: 4.0ppg and 2.0rpg in three games. He is a former international player as seven years ago he still played for the Brazilian senior national team.

   #11. Former international forward Leonardo Demetrio (208-94, currently plays in Spain) helped RETAbet BB win their game against the closely-ranked Carramimbre 84-77 in the Spanish LEB Gold (second division) in Sunday night's game. Demetrio scored 6 points in only 12 minutes. It was his first game for RETAbet BB this season. Demetrio used to play for the Brazilian national team two years ago.

   #12. U21 international power forward Michael Uchendu (208-98, currently plays in Spain) couldn't help the league outsider Leyma Basquet in their game against Caceres Basket in the Spanish LEB Gold (second division). Uchendu scored only 4 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 18 minutes. His team lost 80-84. He has averaged so far 6.0ppg and 6.5rpg in six games. Uchendu is also in the roster of the Brazilian U21 national team.

   #13. Former U19 international forward Dimitris Sousa (198-94, college: Virginia-Wise, currently plays in Italy) managed to help Moncada Solar Agrigento to win against the 16th-ranked Virtus Cassino 85-75 in the Italian Serie A2 (second division) last Sunday. Sousa scored only 4 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. He has averaged so far 5.0ppg, 2.0rpg and 1.3apg. Sousa used to play for the Brazilian U19 national team nine years ago.

   #14. Former international guard Carlos Cobos (193-88, currently plays in Spain) couldn't help CB Granada in their game against Oviedo CB in the Spanish LEB Gold (second division). He scored only 4 points, had 4 rebounds and dished 4 assists. His team was edged 73-70. This season Cobos has relatively solid stats: 11.4ppg, 2.4rpg, 2.4apg and 1.4spg. He used to play for the Brazilian national team back in 2010.

   #15. Former U19 international power forward Wesley Sena (210-96, currently plays in Spain) couldn't help CB Prat in their game against Real Betis in the Spanish LEB Gold (second division). Sena cannot count Saturday's game as one of the best ones. He scored only 2 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 22 minutes. His team was edged 90-88. Sena has averaged so far 6.0ppg and 6.8rpg in six games. He used to play for the Brazilian U19 national team five years ago.


The list of other players, who all have Brazilian passport but never been selected to any of Brazilian national teams:

   #1. Diego Soarez (205-C-87, currently plays in Uruguay) could not help one of league's weakest teams Hebraica (1-8) in their last game. Despite Soarez's good performance Hebraica was badly defeated 89-72 in a derby game by the second-ranked Malvin. He scored 10 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 31 minutes. Soarez's team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And that game will be critical. It's Soarez's first season with the team. This year his overall stats are: 5.2ppg, 3.0rpg and 1.2apg in five games he played so far. Soarez has a dual citizenship: Brazilian and Uruguayan.

   #2. Ayan Carvalho (196-G/F-97, college: Temple, currently plays in Argentina) was not able to help Deportivo Viedma (3-1) in their last game on Thursday. Despite Carvalho's very good performance Deportivo Viedma was edged 79-76 at home by the lower-ranked Petrolero (#4) in the South - South group. He was the second best scorer with 18 points. Carvalho also added 7 rebounds (went 6 for 6 at the free throw line). But there are still lots of games to play and it's a long way to go. This season Carvalho has relatively solid stats: 14.3ppg, 6.7rpg and 1.7apg. He is another player who holds two passports: Brazilian and Argentinian. Despite Carvalho's Brazilian nationality, he currently plays for the Argentinian university national team and is not eligible to play for the Brazilian team.

   #3. Experienced Kazuya Hatano (192-F-82, currently plays in Japan) managed to help Fukuoka Rizing to win against the third-ranked Kyoto Hannaryz (7-5) crushing them 100-47 in the Japanese B League last Saturday. He scored only 4 points. Fukuoka Rizing (1-11) is placed sixth in West group. It was his team's first victory after ten consecutive loses. Hatano has averaged so far 2.8ppg and 1.9rpg. He has both Brazilian and Japanese nationalities.

   #4. Joao Gallina (192-SF-94, currently plays in Portugal) was not able to secure a victory for CAB Madeira (1-3) in their game against Vitoria SC (3-2) in the Portuguese LPB. Gallina scored 8 points in 23 minutes. CAB Madeira was badly defeated 88-72 on the road by the higher-ranked (#5) Vitoria SC. Gallina has averaged so far 6.8ppg and 1.5rpg in four games. He also holds two passports: Brazilian and Portuguese. Despite Gallina's Brazilian nationality, he previously played for the Portuguese U20 national team and probably cannot be called to the Brazilian team.

   #5. Guilherme Brodt (208-C, college: Northern NM, currently plays in Belarus) contributed to COR-Borisfen's victory against the closely-ranked Rubon (2-3) 76-66 in the Belarusian Premier League in Saturday night's game. Brodt recorded only 2 points. COR-Borisfen Mogilev (4-1) is placed third in the Premier League. It's Brodt's first season with the team. He has averaged so far 4.0ppg and 2.8rpg.

   #6. Felipe Dos Anjos (218-C-98, currently plays in Spain) contributed to a Melilla Baloncesto's victory against the 12th-ranked Castello 82-72 in the Spanish LEB Gold (second division) on Friday night. He scored only 4 points. Dos Anjos has averaged so far 8.4ppg, 4.2rpg and 1.6spg.

   #7. Paulo Scheuer (200-F-99, currently plays in Portugal) helped Benfica B win their game against the eighth-ranked Estoril Basket crushing them 77-54 in the Portuguese Proliga (second division) in Sunday night's game. He had a double-double by scoring 10 points and getting the same number of rebounds in 25 minutes. It was his first game for Benfica B this season.

   #8. Luis Rossi (193-F, currently plays in NAIA) couldn't help the the league outsider St. Andrews University in their game against the Webber International University in the AAC. He recorded 6 points in only 13 minutes. His team lost 82-92 in the AAC. Rossi has averaged so far 5.0ppg, 2.0rpg and 1.3apg in four games.

   #9. Carlos Costa (198-F, currently plays in Canada) couldn't help the University of Victoria in their game against the Thunderbirds in the U Sports. Costa cannot count Saturday's game as one of the best ones. He recorded only 2 points. It was his first game for University of Victoria this season. His team was defeated 87-81.

   #10. Gabriel De Oliveira (206-PF-97, currently plays in Germany) helped Iserlohn win their game against the 11th-ranked Titans 69-64 in the German ProB (third division) in Saturday night's game. De Oliveira recorded 6 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in 17 minutes. He has reliable stats this year: 11.3ppg and 5.3rpg in seven games. De Oliveira has dual citizenship: Brazilian and German.

Power forward Anderson Rodrigues (205-PF-97) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Sao Paulo FC, receiving a Interperformances Liga Ouro Player of the Week award for round 13. The 21-year old player had a double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds, while his team beat Rio Claro (#6, 5-7) 89-83. Sao Paulo FC is placed at 3rd position in Brazilian Liga Ouro.
