NBB is at the halfway of the Regular Season and there are still another 13 rounds left. Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

Bottom-ranked Brasilia managed to get a third victory, breaking the series of two consecutive losses on Monday night. This time newly promoted Brasilia won against seventh-ranked Minas 88-77. Brasilia made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Venezuelan center Windi Graterol (204-86, agency: Pro Sports) who helped to win the game recording 25 points and 9 rebounds. The former international point guard Welington Dos-Santos (185-81) contributed with 8 points and 17 assists for the winners. American swingman Dominique Coleman (198-88, college: Francis Marion) answered with 27 points and 6 rebounds for Minas. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Newly promoted Brasilia maintains fourteenth place with 3-9 record. Minas lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with six games lost. They share it with Corinthians. Brasilia are looking forward to face higher ranked Paulistano (#5) in Sao Paulo in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Minas will play at home against Flamengo having rather not much hope for a victory.
The game in Rio de Janeiro was also worth to mention about. Second ranked Pinheiros (10-3) played at the court of 6th ranked Botafogo F.R. (6-7). Pinheiros defeated Botafogo F.R. 91-76. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Botafogo F.R.. Power forward Renato Carbonari (206-87) stepped up and scored 18 points and 4 assists for the winners and Kenny Dawkins chipped in 19 points. At the losing side center Ralfi Ansaloni (211-87) responded with 18 points and 6 rebounds. Pinheiros have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain second place with 10-3 record having just one point less than leader Franca. Botafogo F.R. at the other side keeps the sixth position with seven games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.

Worth to mention about the upset in a game between Minas (5-6) and SKY/Basquete (5-8), which took place in Aldeota. Higher ranked Minas lost to eleventh ranked SKY/Basquete in a road game 61-70. Felipe Ribeiro fired a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. SKY/Basquete's coach Dannyel Russo allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. SKY/Basquete moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Sao Jose. Minas lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with six games lost. SKY/Basquete will have a break next round.

Other games in round 13 were not that significant. Corinthians was beaten by Mogi on the road 102-96. Paulistano won against Joinville on its own court 109-97. Pinheiros managed to outperform Vasco Da G. in Sao Paulo 71-65. Sao Jose managed to beat Brasilia at home 87-75.



Sao Jose - Joinville 102-100

A very close game took place in Sao Jose between Sao Jose and Joinville. Eleventh ranked Sao Jose (5-8) got a very close home victory over 10th ranked Joinville (5-7). Sao Jose managed to escape with a 2-point win 102-100 on Saturday evening. Sao Jose dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Joinville's 32. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists.
