JOAO PAULO BATISTA

37-year old Joao Paulo Batista (205-C/F-81) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Mogi and receives a Interperformances Player of the Week award for round 13.
He had a double-double of 27 points and 13 rebounds, while his team beat Corinthians (#10, 4-7) 102-96. Mogi maintains the 4th position in Brazilian league. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Mogi will need more victories to improve their 9-4 record. Batista turned to be Mogi's top player in his first season with the team. Gonzaga University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Batista is in league's top in points (3rd best: 19.3ppg), rebounds (2nd best: 8.1rpg) and averages solid 60.3% FGP.

Second best performed player last round was Guilherme Giovannoni (203-PF-80) of Corinthians. He is naturalized Italian forward in his first season at Corinthians. In the last game Giovannoni recorded impressive 27 points and 6 rebounds. Bad luck as Corinthians lost that game 96-102 to the higher-ranked Mogi (#4, 9-4). This loss caused Corinthians to drop to 10th position in the standings. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 4-7 record. Giovannoni is a newcomer at Corinthians and quickly became one of team's most reliable players.

Third place about best performers goes to center Windi Graterol (204-C-86, agency: Pro Sports) of Brasilia (#14). Graterol scored 25 points and grabbed nine rebounds. He was a key player of Brasilia, leading his team to a 88-77 win against the higher-ranked Minas (#7, 5-6). Brasilia can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have extremely bad season and 3-9 record places them at the very bottom of the standings. Too bad for Graterol he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Graterol has a very solid season. In 12 games in Brazil he scored 11.9ppg. He also has 5.6rpg and FGP: 58.2%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Dominique Coleman (198-G/F-88) of Minas - 27 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists
5. Leonardo Meindl (201-SF-93) of Paulistano - 20 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists
6. Anton Cook (188-G-95) of Joinville - 23 points, 3 rebounds and 4 assists
7. Pedro Lima (191-SG-87) of Sao Jose - 23 points and 4 assists
8. Andre Coimbra (206-PF-86) of Sao Jose - 17 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists
9. Ralfi Ansaloni (211-C-87) of Botafogo F.R. - 18 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists
10. Welington Dos Santos (185-PG-81) of Brasilia - 8 points, 2 rebounds and 17 assists
