   #1. This week's number one is an experienced international point guard Marcelinho Huertas (191-83, currently plays in Euroleague). He was the major contributor in Baskonia's victory against the closely-ranked Armani Milano (8-11) 80-75 in the Euroleague in Friday night's game. Huertas recorded 13 points and added 3 assists in a mere 18 minutes on the court. Kirolbet Baskonia Vitoria (9-10) is placed eighth in the Euroleague. This year Huertas averages: 7.4ppg, 1.3rpg, 4.0apg, 2FGP: 57.9%(44-76), 3FGP: 44.4% and FT: 81.0% in 19 games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Brazilian and Italian. Huertas is currently a member of the Brazilian senior national team.

   #2. Second place goes to former international center Hatila Passos (211-85, college: N.Mexico St., currently plays in Liga Americas). He led his Uruguayan team Malvin to a double overtime (!!!) victory against the closely-ranked Titanes (1-2) 106-97 in the Liga Americas on Sunday night. Passos had a double-double by scoring 15 points and getting the same number of rebounds. He also added 2 blocks in 31 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Malvin Montevideo (1-2) is placed third in the Liga Americas. The Regular Season already ended in the Liga Americas. Passos has relatively good stats this year: 13.5ppg, 9.5rpg, 2FGP: 63.6% and FT: 72.2% in two games. He is another player who holds two passports: Brazilian and Uruguayan. Former Paulistano/Unimed Sao Paolo starter played for the Brazilian national team in 2010.

   #3. The Brazilian player who performed third best last week abroad was former international forward Leonardo Demetrio (208-94, currently plays in Spain). Demetrio could not help RETAbet BB (12-6) in their last game on Sunday. Despite his very good performance RETAbet BB was defeated 81-72 at home by the lower-ranked Oviedo_CB (#4). Demetrio recorded a double-double by scoring 18 points and getting 10 rebounds. It's Demetrio's first season with the team. His overall stats this year are: 8.8ppg, 4.4rpg, 2FGP: 75.0%(39-52), 3FGP: 45.8%(11-24) and FT: 57.1%. Demetrio played for the Brazilian national team three years ago.

   #4. Point guard Rafael Freire Luz (188-92, currently plays in Spain) contributed to an easy victory against the closely-ranked Zaragoza (8-9) crushing them 97-77 in the Spanish Liga Endesa last Sunday. He scored 6 points, grabbed 6 boards, passed 3 assists and added 3 steals in 18 minutes. MoraBanc Andorra (8-9) is placed ninth in the Liga Endesa. This year Freire Luz's overall stats are: 4.4ppg, 2.2rpg, 2.2apg and 1.4spg in 17 games. He has both Brazilian and Spanish nationalities. Freire Luz is also Brazilian national team player.

   #5. Former U18 international center Lucas Siewert (202-97, currently plays college basketball in the States), who plays in the NCAA was not able to help the Colorado (1-4) in their last game. Despite his good performance his team lost 69-78 on their home court in Boulder to the University of Utah. Siewert scored 13 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 29 minutes. This year Siewert has relatively solid stats: 11.6ppg, 5.1rpg and 1.1apg in 16 games. He used to play for the Brazilian U18 national team five years ago.

   #6. Shooting guard Vitor Benite (192-90, currently plays in Spain) was not able to secure a victory for Burgos (6-11) in their game against Joventut (9-7) in the Spanish Liga Endesa. Benite scored 9 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. But Burgos was crushed 87-65 on their home court in Burgos by the higher-ranked Joventut (#7). It was Burgos' third consecutive loss in a row. Benite has reliable stats this season: 12.8ppg and 2.8rpg. He is an international player who is currently on the senior Brazilian National Team roster.

   #7. Former international center Nene Hilario (211-82, currently plays in NBA) couldn't help the Houston Rockets (26-20) in their game against the Brooklyn Nets (25-23) in the NBA. Hilario recorded 7 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 16 minutes. The Houston Rockets (26-20) were edged 145-142 on the road by the Nets. This year Hilario's total stats are: 4.1ppg and 3.5rpg in 20 games. He used to play for the Brazilian national team three years ago.

   #8. Center Dida Pereira (202-92, college: Sequoias CC, currently plays in Chile) couldn't help Osorno Basquetbol (9-15) in their game against Los Leones (15-8) in the Chilean Liga Nacional. Despite his very good performance in Saturday night's game Pereira recorded a double-double by scoring 15 points and getting 12 rebounds. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Pereira has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 17.9ppg, 8.6rpg and 1.5apg. Pereira used to play for the Brazilian U18 national team back in 2010.

   #9. International center Augusto Lima (206-91, currently plays in Spain) is a teammate of previously mentioned Vitor Benite and both played together in the last Spanish Liga Endesa game. Lima couldn't help Burgos (6-11) in their game against Joventut (9-7). He scored 5 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. Burgos was crushed 87-65 on their home court in Burgos by the higher-ranked Joventut (#7). Lima has averaged so far 6.8ppg and 5.4rpg. He is also in the roster of the Brazilian national team.

   #10. Forward Tulio Da Silva (201-96, currently studies in the States) couldn't help the Missouri St. (2-4) in their game against the University of Evansville (0-6) in the NCAA. Despite his very good performance last Wednesday Da Silva recorded a double-double by scoring 14 points and getting 13 rebounds. This season Da Silva has very high stats. He averages: 16.0ppg and 7.4rpg. Da Silva is a former U18 international player as five years ago he still played for the Brazilian national team.

   #11. Former U19 international center Felipe Braga (213-94, currently plays in Spain) couldn't help Un.Oviedo in their game against Agustinos-Leclerc in the Spanish EBA (fourth division), despite his good performance last Sunday. Braga had a double-double by scoring 10 points and getting 14 rebounds. He also added 3 assists and 2 blocks in 36 minutes. But his team was edged 59-58. Braga averaged so far 13.2ppg, 12.8rpg, 1.2apg and 3.0bpg in six games. He used to play for the Brazilian U19 national team six years ago.

   #12. Former international power forward Cristiano Felicio (206-92, college: Oregon, currently plays in NBA) couldn't help the Chicago Bulls in their game against the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA. Felicio cannot count Tuesday's game as one of the best ones. He scored only 2 points. His team were defeated 107-100 in the NBA. Felicio has averaged so far 3.0ppg and 2.8rpg. He used to play for the Brazilian national team back in 2016.

   #13. Former U17 international power forward Kayo Goncalves (201-99, currently plays in NCAA2) couldn't help the Southeastern Oklahoma State University in their game against the East Central University in the NCAA2. Despite his very good performance last Thursday He scored 14 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. It was his first game for Southeastern Oklahoma State University this season. Goncalves used to play for the Brazilian U17 national team four years ago.

   #14. Former U19 international power forward Wesley Sena (210-96, currently plays in Spain) couldn't help CB Prat in their game against Castello in the Spanish LEB Gold (second division), despite his very good performance on Saturday night. He was the second best scorer with 14 points in 23 minutes. But his team lost 72-82. Sena has averaged so far 7.6ppg and 4.3rpg in 16 games. He used to play for the Brazilian U19 national team back in 2013.

   #15. Former U19 international forward Dimitris Sousa (198-94, college: Virginia-Wise, currently plays in Italy) led Moncada AGR to a 1-point victory against the seventh-ranked Eurotrend BI 77-76 in the Italian Serie A2 (second division) in Sunday night's game. Sousa scored 13 points. Sousa has averaged so far 8.1ppg and 3.0rpg. He used to play for the Brazilian U19 national team ten years ago.


The list of other players, who all have Brazilian passport but never been selected to any of Brazilian national teams:

   #1. Pedro Ianguas (208-C-98, currently plays in Argentina) could not help Bahia Basket (2-6) in their last game on Saturday. Despite his good performance Bahia Basket was defeated 85-76 at home by the much higher-ranked Gimnasia (#4). Ianguas scored 12 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. Ianguas' overall stats this year are: 6.7ppg and 4.7rpg.

   #2. Rafael Paulichi (202-PF-98, currently plays in Argentina) is a teammate of previously mentioned Pedro Ianguas and both played together in the last Argentinian La Liga game. Paulichi was not able to help Bahia Basket in their game against Gimnasia (7-3). He scored only 4 points. Bahia Basket was defeated 85-76 on their home court in Bahia Blanca by the much higher-ranked Gimnasia (#4). Paulichi's total stats this season are: 4.4ppg and 2.6rpg.

   #3. Oscar Da Silva (207-PF-98, currently plays college basketball in the States) led Stanford to a victory against the Washington State University (2-5) 78-66 in the NCAA last Saturday. He scored 12 points, grabbed 5 rebounds and made 3 blocks in 36 minutes. The Stanford University has not so impressive 2-4 conference record this season. Da Silva has averaged so far 9.6ppg, 5.8rpg, 2.0apg and 1.1bpg in 16 games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: German and Brazilian. Despite Da Silva's Brazilian passport, he previously played for the German U19 national team and is probably not eligible to play for the Brazilian team.

   #4. Diego Soarez (205-C-87, currently plays in Uruguay) was not able to secure a victory for Hebraica (1-8) in their game against Goes (12-7) in the Uruguayan LUB. Soarez scored only 4 points in 13 minutes. Hebraica lost 102-109 in a derby game to the lower-ranked (#6) Goes. The Regular Season already ended. Soarez has averaged so far 4.3ppg and 3.0rpg in 19 games. He is another player who holds two passports: Brazilian and Uruguayan.

   #5. Joao Gallina (192-SF-94, currently plays in Portugal) contributed to a CAB Madeira's victory against the fifth-ranked Esgueira / Oli (7-8) 77-66 in the Portuguese LPB on Saturday night. He scored 15 points and grabbed 8 rebounds in 32 minutes. CAB Madeira (5-10) is placed ninth in the LPB. Gallina has averaged so far 7.1ppg and 2.2rpg in 14 games. He has both Brazilian and Portuguese nationalities. Despite Gallina's Brazilian passport, he previously played for the Portuguese U20 national team and probably cannot be called to the Brazilian team.

   #6. Experienced Atilio de Mello (203-C-82, currently plays in Liga Americas) managed to help Malvin Montevideo to win in a double overtime against the closely-ranked Titanes 106-97 in the Liga Americas in Sunday night's game. de Mello scored only 3 points. It was his first game for Malvin this season.

   #7. Lucas Doria (203-F-97, currently plays in NCAA2) helped St. Edward's University win their game against the Arkansas-Fort Smith 76-65 in the NCAA2 in Thursday night's game. Doria had a double-double by scoring 13 points and getting 10 rebounds. He also added 3 assists in 23 minutes. Doria has averaged so far 7.5ppg and 4.8rpg in 14 games.

   #8. Luis Rossi (193-F, currently plays in NAIA) couldn't help the St. Andrews University in their game against the Milligan College in the AAC. Rossi scored only 4 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 25 minutes. His team was crushed by 29 points 91-62 in the AAC. Rossi has averaged so far 8.1ppg and 3.0rpg in 16 games.

   #9. Lazaro Rojas (211-F-96, currently studies in the States) helped Fresno St. win their game against the Boise State University 63-53 in the NCAA last Saturday. He scored only 2 points. Rojas has averaged so far 3.4ppg and 2.5rpg.

   #10. Masa Swain (190-G, currently plays in NCAA2) couldn't help the Chaminade University in their game against the Point Loma Nazarene College in the NCAA2. He scored 5 points in 14 minutes. His team lost 71-75 in the NCAA2. Swain has averaged so far 4.8ppg and 1.9rpg in 11 games. He is a naturalized American. Strangely Swain has never played in Brazil.

BERNARDO MOLLER Pato Basquete (Liga Ouro) signed 20-year old shooting guard Bernardo Moller (190-99). He just played at Corinthians in the LDB U21. Despite young age Moller had impressive career. He was named to Latinbasket.com All-LDB U21 League 2nd Team in 2018. He has played also professionally for other Brazilian teams like Corinthians Santa Cruz do Sul, Botafogo F.R., Porto Alegre and Gremio Nautico. JALEN JONES Sao Paulo FC (Liga Ouro) agreed terms with 23-year old American guard Jalen Jones (188-95kg-95, college: Texas Arlington). He played last season at BC MoraBanc Andorra 2nd team in Spanish EBA league. In 14 games he had very impressive stats: 17.8ppg, 4.9rpg and 1.3apg.
