We bring you last week's top performances from Brazilians who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.

   #1. This week's number one is an international point guard Rafael Freire Luz (188-92, currently plays in EuroCup). He led his Spanish team Andorra to a victory against the third-ranked Zenit (1-3) 86-74 in the Eurocup in Wednesday night's game. Freire Luz recorded 12 points, 6 assists and 4 steals in 26 minutes on the court. MoraBanc Andorra (4-0) is placed first in group H. So far his team won all four games in the Top 16. There are only two games left until the end of the Eurocup Top 16. So now every game will be critical. It's Freire Luz's first season with the team. This year he averages: 3.5ppg, 2.7rpg, 3.2apg, 1.1spg, 2FGP: 57.1%(12-21), 3FGP: 13.6% and FT: 76.5% in 13 games he played so far. Freire Luz has a dual citizenship: Brazilian and Spanish. He is currently a member of the Brazilian senior national team.

   #2. Second place goes to an experienced international point guard Marcelinho Huertas (191-83, currently plays in Euroleague). Huertas could not help Baskonia (9-11) to beat Darussafaka (3-17). He scored 8 points and added 6 passes. Baskonia was defeated 80-75 on the road by the league outsider Darussafaka (#16). Huertas' overall stats this season are: 7.5ppg, 1.4rpg, 4.1apg, 2FGP: 56.3%(45-80), 3FGP: 44.8% and FT: 83.3%. He is another player who holds two passports: Brazilian and Italian. Huertas is in the roster of the Brazilian senior national team.

   #3. The Brazilian player who performed third best last week abroad was former international small forward Bruno Caboclo (206-95, currently plays in NBA). He contributed to a 3-point Memphis Grizzlies' victory against the Indiana Pacers (32-16) 106-103 in the NBA in Saturday night's game. Caboclo scored 11 points, grabbed 4 rebounds and made 2 blocks. The Memphis Grizzlies have 20-30 record this season. They ended the series of eight consecutive loses. Caboclo's overall stats this year are: 5.5ppg, 2.5rpg, 1.5bpg, 3FGP: 42.9%. He played for the Brazilian national team two years ago.

   #4. Center Lucas Siewert (202-97, currently plays college basketball in the States) contributed to Colorado's victory against the University of California (3-3) 68-59 in the NCAA last Thursday. Siewert recorded 18 points in 32 minutes. The University of Colorado has 1-4 conference record this season. Siewert has relatively good stats this year: 12.1ppg, 4.9rpg and 1.2apg in 19 games. He used to play for the Brazilian U18 national team back in 2014.

   #5. International shooting guard Vitor Benite (192-90, currently plays in Spain) was not able to help Burgos (6-12) in their last game. Despite Benite's good performance Burgos was edged 94-92 in Valencia by the much higher-ranked (#5) Basket. He scored 10 points and added 3 passes in 26 minutes. It was Burgos' fourth consecutive loss in a row. This year Benite has relatively solid stats: 12.3ppg and 2.5rpg in six games. He plays currently for the Brazilian national team.

   #6. Forward Rafael Monteiro (193-98, currently plays in NCAA2) contributed to an easy victory against the Young Harris College crushing them 134-93 in the NCAA2 last Monday. Monteiro recorded 26 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 4 assists. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. The Augusta University has a solid 4-2 record this season. Monteiro has reliable stats this year: 14.0ppg, 6.0rpg and 1.1apg. He is a former U18 international player as he played for the Brazilian team three years ago.

   #7. Former U18 international center Dida Pereira (202-92, college: Sequoias CC, currently plays in Chile) was not able to secure a victory for Osorno Basquetbol (9-17) in their last game. Despite Pereira's very good performance the sixth-placed Osorno Basquetbol (9-17) was crushed 89-68 in Valdivia by the second-ranked Deportivo in the Conferencia Sur. He scored 15 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in 30 minutes; quite an impressive performance considering it's only Pereira's third season in pro basketball. The Regular Season already ended. Pereira has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 17.7ppg, 8.5rpg and 1.5apg in 23 games. Pereira used to play for the Brazilian U18 national team nine years ago.

Center Felipe Braga (213-94, currently plays in Spain) contributed to a 1-point Un.Oviedo's victory against the fifth-ranked Leon (9-5) 64-63 in the Spanish EBA (fourth division) in Sunday night's game. He recorded a double-double by scoring 12 points and getting 18 rebounds. Braga also added 4 blocks. AD Universidad de Oviedo (6-8) is placed ninth in Group A-B. Braga averaged so far 12.6ppg, 13.6rpg, 1.4apg and 3.0bpg. He used to play for the Brazilian U19 national team back in 2013.

Former U18 international forward Tulio Da Silva (201-96, currently studies in the States) contributed to an easy victory against the Loyola University of Chicago (3-2) crushing them 70-35 in the NCAA last Wednesday. Da Silva scored 14 points and grabbed 8 rebounds in 31 minutes. The Missouri State University has not so impressive 2-4 conference record this season. Da Silva has very impressive stats this year: 15.4ppg and 7.4rpg in 16 games. He used to play for the Brazilian U18 national team five years ago.

   #10. Center Nene Hilario (211-82, currently plays in NBA) managed to help Houston Rockets to win against the Orlando Magic (20-30) 103-98 in the NBA on Sunday night. Hilario scored only 4 points and blocked 2 shots. The Houston Rockets have 29-20 record this season. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. Hilario's overall stats this season are: 4.0ppg and 3.3rpg. He is a former international player as three years ago he still played for the Brazilian senior national team.

   #11. Former international forward Leonardo Demetrio (208-94, currently plays in Spain) contributed to a RETAbet BB's victory against the 11th-ranked Lleida Basquet 81-70 in the Spanish LEB Gold (second division) in Sunday night's game. Demetrio scored only 2 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 19 minutes. This year Demetrio's overall stats are: 7.9ppg and 4.4rpg in 16 games. He used to play for the Brazilian national team three years ago.

   #12. Former U19 international forward Dimitris Sousa (198-94, college: Virginia-Wise, currently plays in Italy) helped Moncada AGR win their game against the 12th-ranked Eurobasket RO 90-76 in the Italian Serie A2 (second division) last Sunday. He scored 11 points in a mere 16 minutes. This year Sousa's total stats are: 8.3ppg and 2.9rpg in 17 games. He used to play for the Brazilian U19 national team back in 2009.

   #13. U21 international power forward Michael Uchendu (208-98, currently plays in Spain) couldn't help Leyma Basquet in their game against Real Betis in the Spanish LEB Gold (second division). Uchendu recorded only 4 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 16 minutes. His team lost 70-78. Uchendu has averaged so far 7.0ppg and 5.9rpg in 20 games. He is also Brazilian U21 national team player.

   #14. Former international small forward Jonathan Tavernari (197-87, college: BYU, currently plays in Italy) couldn't help Givova Scafati (8-10) in their last game on Sunday. Despite Tavernari's good performance Givova Scafati (#13) was defeated 89-82 in Treviglio by the much higher-ranked Remer TVG (#6) in the West group. He scored 12 points and added 3 passes. Tavernari has averaged so far 5.8ppg, 2.6rpg and 1.1apg. He used to play for the Brazilian national team back in 2010.

   #15. Former international guard Danilo Fuzaro (193-94, currently plays in Spain) helped Castello win their game against the fourth-ranked RETAbet BB 74-62 in the Spanish LEB Gold (second division) in Wednesday night's game. He recorded 10 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 26 minutes. Fuzaro has averaged so far 8.5ppg, 2.1rpg, 1.7apg and 1.4spg in 19 games. He used to play for the Brazilian national team two years ago.


The list of other players, who all have Brazilian passport but never been selected to any of Brazilian national teams:

   #1. Pedro Ianguas (208-C-98, currently plays in Argentina) contributed to a Bahia Basket's surprising victory against the ninth-ranked Instituto (5-4) 68-63 in the Argentinian La Liga on Monday night. He recorded 8 points and grabbed 8 rebounds in 23 minutes. Bahia Basket (2-7) is placed 18th in the La Liga. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. This year Ianguas' overall stats are: 6.5ppg and 5.4rpg in eight games he played so far.

   #2. Oscar Da Silva (207-PF-98, currently plays college basketball in the States) led Stanford to a victory against the University of Colorado (0-6) 75-62 in the NCAA on Saturday night. Da Silva scored 21 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. The Stanford University has rather weak 2-4 conference record this season. Da Silva's overall stats this year are: 9.6ppg, 5.7rpg, 1.8apg and 1.2bpg. He has a dual citizenship: German and Brazilian. Despite Da Silva's Brazilian passport, he previously played for the German U19 national team and is probably not eligible to play for the Brazilian team.

   #3. Experienced Matheus Maciel (207-C-1, currently plays in Spain) led Unicaja-Andalucia to a victory over the sixth-ranked Multiopticas Baza (6-9) 92-88 in the Spanish EBA (fourth division) last Wednesday. Maciel was MVP of the game. He scored 19 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. Unicaja-Andalucia Malaga (4-11) is placed ninth in Group D-A. There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Maciel's total stats this season are: 6.5ppg and 5.7rpg.

   #4. Lazaro Rojas (211-F-96, currently studies in the States), who plays in the NCAA could not help the Fresno St. (4-1) to beat the Colorado State University (1-4). He scored 7 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in only 11 minutes. his team lost 65-74 at home to the Colorado State University. This year Rojas' total stats are: 3.4ppg and 2.5rpg in 17 games.

   #5. Felipe Dos Anjos (218-C-98, currently plays in Spain) managed to help Melilla Baloncesto to win against the 12th-ranked Real Canoe (8-12) crushing them 82-59 in the Spanish LEB Gold (second division) in Sunday night's game. He scored 5 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. Melilla Baloncesto (12-8) is placed fifth in the LEB Gold. Dos Anjos' total stats this season are: 8.5ppg and 4.6rpg.

   #6. Joao Gallina (192-SF-94, currently plays in Portugal) helped CAB Madeira win their game against the closely-ranked Vitoria SC crushing them 80-58 in the Portuguese LPB on Saturday night. Gallina recorded only 4 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Gallina has averaged so far 6.9ppg, 2.4rpg and 1.1spg. He is another player who holds two passports: Brazilian and Portuguese.

   #7. Lucas Doria (203-F-97, currently plays in NCAA2) helped St. Edward's University win their game against the Lubbock Christian University crushing them 80-58 in the NCAA2 in Thursday night's game. Doria recorded 10 points in 24 minutes. Doria has averaged so far 7.9ppg and 5.1rpg in 16 games.

   #8. Kazuya Hatano (192-F-82, currently plays in Japan) was not able to help Fukuoka Rizing in their game against Niigata Albirex in the Japanese B League. He cannot count Sunday's game as one of the best ones. Hatano scored only 2 points. His team was defeated 78-73. Hatano has averaged so far 2.2ppg and 1.5rpg. He has both Brazilian and Japanese nationalities.

   #9. Gabriel De Oliveira (206-PF-97, currently plays in Germany) was the main contributor in Iserlohn's victory against the 12th-ranked ETB Wohnbau 92-86 in the German ProB (third division) last Saturday. De Oliveira was MVP of the game. He scored 20 points, had 8 rebounds and made 2 blocks in 21 minutes. De Oliveira averaged so far 10.9ppg and 5.6rpg in 18 games. He also holds two passports: Brazilian and German.

   #10. Luis Rossi (193-F, currently plays in NAIA) was not able to secure a victory for the St. Andrews University in their game against the Montreat Anderson College in the AAC. Rossi scored 7 points. His team was crushed by 27 points 100-73 in the AAC. Rossi averaged so far 10.9ppg and 5.6rpg.

BERNARDO MOLLER Pato Basquete (Liga Ouro) signed 20-year old shooting guard Bernardo Moller (190-99). He just played at Corinthians in the LDB U21. Despite young age Moller had impressive career. He was named to Latinbasket.com All-LDB U21 League 2nd Team in 2018. He has played also professionally for other Brazilian teams like Corinthians Santa Cruz do Sul, Botafogo F.R., Porto Alegre and Gremio Nautico. JALEN JONES Sao Paulo FC (Liga Ouro) agreed terms with 23-year old American guard Jalen Jones (188-95kg-95, college: Texas Arlington). He played last season at BC MoraBanc Andorra 2nd team in Spanish EBA league. In 14 games he had very impressive stats: 17.8ppg, 4.9rpg and 1.3apg.
