Franco Balbi
FRANCO BALBI

29-year old point guard Franco Balbi (185-PG-89) had a great game in the last round for second-ranked Flamengo and receives a Interperformances Player of the Week award for round 19.
He had the game-high 19 points adding seven rebounds and nine assists for Flamengo in his team's victory, helping them to beat Paulistano (#5, 12-7) 95-87. Flamengo maintains the 2nd position in Brazilian league. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Flamengo will need more victories to improve their 15-4 record. It was one of impressive evenings for Balbi as usually he does not deliver so high stats. Balbi has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in assists (5th best: 6.0apg).

Second best performed player last round was Luciano Parodi (182-PG-94) of Corinthians. He is Uruguayan guard in his first season at Corinthians. In the last game Parodi recorded impressive 24 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Of course he led Corinthians to another comfortable win 90-77 over the lower-ranked B.Cearense (#11, 6-14) being unquestionably team leader. Despite this victory Corinthians slide down in the standings to 8th position. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 7-11 record. Parodi is a newcomer at Corinthians and quickly became one of team's most reliable players.

Third place about best performers goes to guard Zach Graham (198-G-89, agency: Pro Sports) of Brasilia (#13). Graham scored 24 points. He was a key player of Brasilia, leading his team to a 84-82 win against the higher-ranked Corinthians (#8, 7-11). Brasilia can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 5-12 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Too bad for Graham he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Graham has individually a great season in Brazil. After 16 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 20.9ppg (2nd best). He also has FGP: 50.8% and 3PT: 42.0%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Welington Dos Santos (185-PG-81) of Brasilia - 21 points, 4 rebounds and 9 assists
5. Anderson Varejao (211-C-82) of Flamengo - 19 points and 11 rebounds
6. Lucas Silva (209-F-95) of Franca - 25 points and 7 rebounds
7. Leonardo Meindl (201-SF-93) of Paulistano - 19 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists
8. Windi Graterol (204-C-86) of Brasilia - 15 points and 11 rebounds
9. Dominique Coleman (198-G/F-88) of Minas - 22 points
10. Douglas Nunes (208-PF-87) of Sao Jose - 16 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.

Erike Lima is a newcomer at Sao Jose - 2 hours ago
Sao Jose dos Pinhais Basketball (CBC League) added to their roster 19-year old forward Erike Lima (202-99). He started the season at Botafogo F.R. (NBB). NBB was a little too high level for him, where in 7 games he recorded just 0.9ppg and 1.6rpg this season. CBC League will be definitely a better match and he can see more playing time. The last season Lima played also at Botafogo F.R. (also in NBB). NBB was a little too high level for him, where in two games he averaged only 1.5ppg and 1.0rpg   [read more]
