The games at this stage are more interesting as they can be crucial for the final standings in Regular Season. Despite we already know who is stronger and who is weaker, there may be still last minute surprises and upsets. The fans could enjoy quite many interesting games in the last round. The round ended with change at the leadership position, derby games and favorites losing the games. Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

NBB round 22 caused change at the leadership position. Fourth defeat of league's leader Pinheiros (18-4) against second ranked Vivo/Franca (18-3) 93-78 was the most important game of the last round. It ended at the same time the 11-game winning streak of Pinheiros. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Vivo/Franca made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American David Jackson (195-82, college: Penn St.) who helped to win the game recording 26 points (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). International forward Lucas Silva (209-95) contributed with 17 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. American guard Cordero Bennett (188-88) replied with 17 points, 5 assists and 5 steals for Pinheiros. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader. Pinheiros at the other side dropped to the second place with four games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Franca. Pinheiros will play next round against strong Mogi trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Vivo/Franca will try to continue on its current victory against ninth ranked Corinthians. It will be extra interesting game as Corinthians is their local rival from Sao Paulo.
Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Rio de Janeiro: Flamengo (#3) and Botafogo F.R. (#7). Botafogo F.R. was defeated at home 67-73 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Botafogo F.R.. The former international Marquinhos Vieira (207-84) scored 22 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Anderson Varejao chipped in 11 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Flamengo's coach Gustavo Conti allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the losing side forward Diego Conceicao (200-87) responded with 13 points and 8 rebounds. Flamengo (17-4) have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain third position behind leader Franca. Botafogo F.R. at the other side keeps the seventh place with 12 games lost. They share the position with Corinthians and Sao Jose. Flamengo will play against Minas (#6) in Belo Horizonte in the next round. Botafogo F.R. will play at home against Brasilia and hopes to get back on the winning track.
NBB top team - Pinheiros (18-4) added another victory to their record on Thursday. This time they beat eleventh ranked Paschoalotto/Bauru (7-13) 75-68. Renato Carbonari notched 17 points and 9 rebounds to lead the effort. Pinheiros' coach Cesar Guidetti used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 22 points and 5 rebounds by Larry Taylor did not help to save the game for Paschoalotto/Bauru. Pinheiros have an impressive 11-game winning streak. Despite that victory Pinheiros went down to second position due to points difference. Paschoalotto/Bauru lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh place with 13 games lost. Pinheiros will meet at home Mogi (#4) in the next round. Paschoalotto/Bauru will play against Corinthians (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Worth to mention about the upset in a game between Mogi (15-7) and Corinthians (9-12), which took place in Sao Paulo. Higher ranked Mogi lost to ninth ranked Corinthians in a road game 79-90. Kyle Fuller fired 27 points for the winners. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Corinthians moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Botafogo F.R. and Sao Jose. Mogi at the other side keeps the fourth position with seven games lost. Corinthians' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Sao Paulo to the arena Vivo/Franca.
The game between fifth ranked Paulistano (14-7) and 13th ranked Vasco Da G. (5-17) in Sao Paulo on Thursday ended with biggest points difference. Paulistano outscored guests from Rio de Janeiro 109-65. It was a very good performance for Georginho de-Paula who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 12 points, 6 rebounds and 11 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Paulistano maintains fifth position with 14-7 record. Vasco Da G. lost third consecutive game. They keep the thirteenth place with 17 games lost. Paulistano will have a break next round. Vasco Da G. will play at home against Brasilia (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Other games in round 22 were not that significant. Botafogo F.R. beat Joinville on the road 59-54. Botafogo F.R. won against Vasco Da G. on its own court 79-74. Vasco Da G. unfortunately lost to Sao Jose in a road game 68-82. B.Cearense managed to beat Joinville at home 88-77. Bottom-ranked Joinville was defeated by Brasilia on the opponent's court 98-90.
