The biggest surprise of round 5 in Liga Ouro was guest Londrina's (4-1) road victory over 3rd placed Campo Mourao (3-2) 70-62 on Thursday evening. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The best player for the winners was Argentinian point guard Stefano Pierotti (185-98) who scored 17 points. Forward Everton Oliveira (203-93) chipped in 9 points and 6 rebounds. Forward Cesar Araujo (201-81) produced 14 points for the hosts. Campo Mourao's coach Emerson Souza rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Londrina keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Cerrado. Campo Mourao at the other side keeps the third place with two games lost. They share the position with Sao Paulo FC. Londrina is looking forward to face league's leader Cerrado in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Campo Mourao will play against UniFacisa and is hoping to win this game.

Host Sao Paulo FC was defeated by Rio Claro in a tough game in Sao Paulo 81-88. The game was dominated by American players. Rio Claro's coach Gustavo de Freitas allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Power forward Kyle Benjamin (206-91, college: Bridgeport) answered with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 17 rebounds for Sao Paulo FC. Rio Claro moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Pato Basquete. Newly promoted Sao Paulo FC keeps the third position with two games lost. They share it with Campo Mourao. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
