Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

The most important game in the last round took place in Rio Claro between third ranked Rio Claro (4-4) and sixth ranked UniFacisa (5-4) on Thursday night. Rio Claro was defeated by UniFacisa at home 92-78. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Rio Claro. UniFacisa dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Rio Claro's 32. They outrebounded Rio Claro 43-29 including a 37-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American forward Reggie Larry (198-86, college: Boise St., agency: Pro Sports) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 16 rebounds. The other American import guard Nick Okorie (185-88, college: Texas Tech) chipped in 19 points. Guard Luis-Fernando Sacco (184-97) produced 23 points for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. UniFacisa have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place. Rio Claro at the other side dropped to the sixth position with four games lost. UniFacisa are looking forward to face Sao Paulo FC (#5) on the road in the next round. Rio Claro will play against the league's second-placed Cerrado and is hoping to win this game.

In the last two games of round 8 bottom-ranked Blumenau was defeated by UniFacisa in a road game 86-76. Cerrado beat Blumenau at home 81-70.



UniFacisa - Blumenau 86-76

There was no surprise when 8th ranked Blumenau (2-7) was defeated on the road by sixth ranked UniFacisa (5-4) 86-76 on Saturday. It was a great shooting night for UniFacisa especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.0 percentage. The best player for the winners was American point guard Nate Barnes (178-90, college: Alders.-Broad.) who scored 34 points (!!!). The other American import forward Reggie Larry (198-86, college: Boise St., agency: Pro Sports) chipped in 14 points and 8 rebounds. UniFacisa's coach Eduardo Schafer used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Que Johnson (198-92, college: W.Kentucky) produced 19 points and 8 rebounds and the former international power forward Gerson Santo (206-91, college: Colorado St.) added 14 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the guests. UniFacisa have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place. Blumenau at the other side stay at the bottom position with seven games lost. UniFacisa are looking forward to face Sao Paulo FC (#5) on the road in the next round. Blumenau will play against Campo Mourao and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.

No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Cerrado (5-3) defeated at home bottom-ranked Blumenau (2-7) 81-70 on Monday. The best player for the winners was Danilo Sena (195-99) who had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 rebounds. Point guard Patrick Vieira (186-93) chipped in 20 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Cerrado's coach Ronaldo Pacheco used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international power forward Gerson Santo (206-91, college: Colorado St.) produced a double-double by scoring 26 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists and American guard Que Johnson (198-92, college: W.Kentucky) added 7 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals respectively for the guests. Cerrado moved-up to second place. Blumenau at the other side stay at the bottom position with seven games lost. Cerrado are looking forward to face Rio Claro (#6) on the road in the next round.
