RAFAEL FREIRE LUZ
We bring you last week's top performances from Brazilians who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.

Rafael Freire Luz
Rafael Freire Luz
#1. This week's number one is an international point guard Rafael Freire Luz (188-92, agency: Interperformances, currently plays in Spain). He led Andorra to a victory against one of league's weakest teams Leche Rio Breogan (9-22) 91-84 in the Spanish Liga Endesa in Saturday night's game. Freire Luz scored 14 points and added 4 assists in 22 minutes on the court. MoraBanc Andorra (17-17) is placed eighth in the Liga Endesa. His team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And that game will be critical. This year Freire Luz averages: 5.5ppg, 2.3rpg, 2.5apg, 1.2spg, 2FGP: 50.6%, 3FGP: 32.8% and FT: 85.2% in 33 games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Brazilian and Spanish. Freire Luz is currently a member of the Brazilian senior national team.

Vitor Benite
Vitor Benite
#2. Second place goes to an international shooting guard Vitor Benite (192-90, currently plays in Spain). He was the major contributor in Burgos' victory against the 16th-ranked UCAM Murcia (10-22) 84-73 in the Spanish Liga Endesa last Saturday. Benite scored 14 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. San Pablo Inmobiliaria Miraflores Burgos (14-19) is placed 11th in the Liga Endesa. They ended the series of four consecutive loses. His team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And now that game is very crucial. Benite has relatively good stats this season: 12.0ppg, 2.4rpg, 2FGP: 51.8%, 3FGP: 42.7% and FT: 81.5%. He is in the roster of the Brazilian senior national team.

Hatila Passos
Hatila Passos
#3. The Brazilian player who performed third best last week abroad was an experienced former international center Hatila Passos (211-85, college: N.Mexico St., currently plays in Uruguay). Passos contributed to Malvin's victory against the second-ranked Aguada (3-2) 80-69 in a derby game in the Uruguayan LUB on Monday night. He scored 15 points and grabbed 9 rebounds in 38 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 3 ranked teams in group Places 1-6. Malvin Montevideo (4-1) is placed first. It was his team's eighth consecutive victory in a row. This year Passos has relatively solid stats: 10.9ppg, 10.3rpg, 1.4apg, 2FGP: 61.8%(160-259) and FT: 69.6% in 38 games. He is another player who holds two passports: Brazilian and Uruguayan. Former Paulistano/Unimed Sao Paolo starter played for the Brazilian national team nine years ago.

Augusto Lima
Augusto Lima
#4. Center Augusto Lima (206-91, currently plays in Spain) is a teammate of previously mentioned Vitor Benite and both played together in the last Spanish Liga Endesa game. Lima contributed to Burgos' victory against the 16th-ranked UCAM Murcia (10-22) 84-73. He scored 6 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. Lima's overall stats this season are: 7.0ppg and 5.3rpg. He is also Brazilian national team player.

Leonardo Demetrio
Leonardo Demetrio
#5. Former international forward Leonardo Demetrio (208-94, currently plays in Spain). Demetrio could not help RETAbet BB (24-10) to beat Palencia Baloncesto (19-15). He recorded 7 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in only 14 minutes. RETAbet BB lost 57-61 on the road to the much lower-ranked (#9) Palencia_Baloncesto. It's Demetrio's first season with the team. This year Demetrio's overall stats are: 8.4ppg and 5.1rpg in 34 games. He used to play for the Brazilian national team three years ago.

Carlos Cobos
Carlos Cobos
#6. Guard Carlos Cobos (193-88, currently plays in Spain) managed to help Coviran Granada to win against the third-ranked Palma (22-12) 83-71 in the Spanish LEB Gold (second division) in Sunday night's game. Cobos recorded only 4 points and added 4 passes. Coviran Granada (20-14) is placed eighth in the LEB Gold. Cobos' total stats this season are: 8.2ppg, 2.4rpg and 2.2apg. He is a former international player as he played for the Brazilian senior team nine years ago.

The list of other players, who all have Brazilian passport but never been selected to any of Brazilian national teams:

#1. Ayan Carvalho (196-G/F-97, college: Temple, currently plays in Argentina) could not help Deportivo Viedma (15-11) in their last game on Sunday. Despite Carvalho's good performance the fourth-placed Deportivo Viedma (15-11) was defeated 65-61 on the road by the lower-ranked CA Platense (#10) in the South group. He was the second best scorer with 11 points. Carvalho also added 4 steals. Carvalho's total stats this season are: 8.5ppg, 3.7rpg and 1.2spg. He has a dual citizenship: Brazilian and Argentinian. Despite Carvalho's Brazilian passport, he previously played for the Argentinian university national team and is probably not eligible to play for the Brazilian team.

#2. Gabriel Da Silva (206-C-96, currently plays in Argentina) was not able to help Quimsa in their game against Ferro (25-13) in the Argentinian La Liga. Da Silva cannot count it as his best performance. He recorded only 2 points in 10 minutes. Quimsa was crushed 90-63 in Buenos Aires by the second-ranked Ferro. This year Da Silva's total stats are: 2.4ppg and 1.8rpg in 31 games he played so far.

#3. Felipe Dos Anjos (218-C-98, currently plays in Spain) was not able to secure a victory for Melilla Baloncesto (21-13) in their game against Carramimbre (20-14) in the Spanish LEB Gold (second division). He scored 9 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. But Melilla Baloncesto was crushed 85-64 in Valladolid by the lower-ranked Carramimbre (#6). Dos Anjos' total stats this season are: 8.4ppg and 5.2rpg.

#4. Joao Gallina (192-SF-94, currently plays in Portugal) couldn't help CAB Madeira (17-16) in their game against Benfica (10-12) in the Portuguese LPB. He scored only 4 points in 14 minutes. The first-placed CAB Madeira (17-16) was crushed 80-59 at home by the lower-ranked (#7) Benfica in the Places 7-12 group. This year Gallina's total stats are: 5.6ppg and 2.2rpg in 35 games. He is another player who holds two passports: Brazilian and Portuguese.
