Paulista Round 13: Liga Sorocaba tries to escape the last position defeating America- September 4, 2019
The teams have now bigger motivation at this stage of Regular Season. Every game can be crucial and decide about teams' position at the end of Regular Season. Here is the last round review presented by ESL.
L.Sorocaba - America 74-52 Bottom-ranked Liga Sorocaba managed to get the second consecutive victory on Saturday night. This time they outleveled tenth-ranked America in Sorocabana 74-52. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 22-point difference proves that Liga Sorocaba was well-prepared to that game. And what about a second win in a row after ...nine consecutive losses. They dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to America's 26. The former international power forward Murilo Becker (211-83) stepped up and scored 18 points and 6 rebounds for the winners and guard Igor Nascimento (194-96) chipped in 14 points. At the losing side American guard Dwight Gentry (183-87, college: UT Arlington) responded with 23 points and 6 rebounds and forward Joao De-Sa (201-93, college: NE Oklahoma A&M CC) scored 8 points and 5 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Liga Sorocaba (2-9) moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Osasco B. America lost third consecutive game. They keep the tenth position with seven games lost. Liga Sorocaba is looking forward to face Osasco B. (#11) at home in the next round. America will have a break next round.
