Chemidor lands Eloy Vargas- September 26, 2020

Chemidor Tehran (Superleague) tabbed 31-year old Dominican center Eloy Vargas (211-113kg-88, college: Kentucky ). He played most recently at Flamengo in the Brazilian NBB league. In 5 Liga Americas games, he averaged 11.2ppg and 6.4rpg last season. Vargas also played 14 games in NBB where he had 7.4ppg and 4.7rpg. He helped them to win the regular season and make it to the final. The most of previous (2019) summer Vargas spent at Metros de Santiago (Dominican Rep. LNB) In 16 games he recorded 13.1ppg, 9.6rpg, 1.0apg, and 1.8bpg in the 2019 season. He contributed to his team making it to the final. He can count that season as a very successful as was awarded Latinbasket.com All-Dominican Rep. LNB Center of the Year, selected to 1st Team and League Player of the Week (2 times). The other team Vargas played shortly was Trotamundos (LPB) in the Venezuelan league. He contributed to his team winning the Cup. In 2014 (two years after he left the college) Vargas was drafted by Los Angeles D-Fenders (D-League) in the first round (17th overall). He attended the University of Kentucky until 2012 and it will be his ninth season in pro basketball. Vargas has tried to make it to the NBA and played in the NBA Pro Summer League in 2013. Vargas represented the Dominican Republic at the Panamerican Games in Lima (Peru) last year. His team got to the Semifinals and his stats at that event were 5 games: 10.6ppg, 5.0rpg, 1.0spg, FGP: 41.0%, FT: 84.0%. Vargas is a very experienced player. And here thanks to pro basketball he experienced life in seven different countries playing on three different continents. He is familiar with European, Latin American, and of course North American leagues. Vargas has played previously professionally in Argentina (Gimnasia), France (Boulazac Basket), Greece (Enosi Kavalas), Puerto Rico (Vaqueros), Spain (Clavijo), Uruguay (Defensor), and Dominican Republic (San Carlos, San Lazaro, Cupes, CDP Domingo Paulino Santiago and Caneros Del Este).
