Paulista Round 3: Mogi lose to Paschoalotto/Bauru

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Mogi (1-1) in Mogi das Cruzes on Saturday night. Hosts were rolled over by Paschoalotto/Bauru (3-0) 106-81. Paschoalotto/Bauru outrebounded Mogi 34-22 including 26 on the defensive glass. They shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 56.0 percentage. Paschoalotto/Bauru looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. 28 personal fouls committed by Mogi helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was the former international guard Guilherme Pereira (190-91) who scored 26 points. International point guard Alexey Borges (188-95) chipped in 18 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). At the other side the best for losing team was Douglas Dos-Santos (202-98) who recorded 18 points and 8 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Paschoalotto/Bauru is looking forward to face UNIFAE (#9) in Sao Jose in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Mogi will play on the road against Vivo/Franca (#4) in Sao Paulo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

It was a good game for forward Lucas Siewert (208-97, college: Colorado) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 38 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!). Lucas Caue contributed with 6 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. The former international Guilherme Teichmann (206-83, college: Tulsa) answered with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists for Pinheiros. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Corinthians' supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Sao Paulo Sao Paulo.
Another exciting game was again a derby between two local teams from Sao Paulo: Paulistano (#2) and Corinthians (#3). Paulistano (3-0) crushed visiting Corinthians (1-2) by 20 points 83-63. It was a great evening for Caue Borges who led his team to a victory scoring 20 points. The best for the losing side was Lucas Vezaro with 14 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Paulistano's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Sao Paulo to the arena Pinheiros.
The game with biggest result difference took place in Sao Paulo. Local Sao Paulo (2-1) outscored Osasco (1-3) 114-67. It was a quality performance for Georginho de-Paula who led the winners and scored 16 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Sao Paulo's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Sao Paulo to the arena Corinthians.

Corinthians - Pinheiros 86-78

International guard Caue Borges (187-91) accounted for 7 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists for the winning side. Forward Felipe Franklin (201-98) came up with 12 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Thiago Carneiro (191-91, college: Colorado NW) added 11 points respectively for Osasco in the defeat.
