CBC League Round 1 of Regular Season

The Regular Season in CBC League just started. The fans could enjoy quite many interesting games in the last round. The round ended with change at the leadership position and favorites losing the games. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

First defeat of league's leader Anapolis against Blumenau 85-63 was the most important game of the last round. Blumenau looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Jeferson Froehlich (193-91) who helped to win the game recording 11 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Jorge Iglesias (206-95) contributed with 15 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Forward Leandro Moraes (197-97) answered with 16 points and 9 rebounds for Anapolis. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Anapolis will play next round against strong Osasco trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Blumenau will try to continue on its current victory against Blackstar in Joinville.
Osasco defeated Blumenau at home 96-78. Guard Gustavo Scaglia (193-93, college: Arizona W. CC) stepped up and scored 28 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and Renato Scholz chipped in 9 points and 10 rebounds. At the losing side guard Gabriel De Oliveira (202-93) responded with 24 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Blumenau will play next round against strong Blackstar trying to get back on the winning streak. Osasco will try to continue on its current victory against Anapolis at Anapolis Goias.
Botafogo recorded a loss in Anapolis Goias on Monday night. Visitors were defeated by Anapolis 88-77. Alef Alves nailed 23 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals for the winning side. Paulinho Boracini came up with 29 points (made all of his seven free throws) for Botafogo in the defeat. Botafogo's coach Joao Guia rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Anapolis will meet at home Osasco in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Botafogo will play against Vila Nova/AEGB in Goiania and hope to secure a win.
We should not miss anothera road victory of Blackstar who crushed Vila Nova/AEGB by 49 points 101-52. Henrique Cerimelli fired 16 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Blackstar's next round opponent will be Blumenau on the road. Vila Nova/AEGB will play against Botafogo and hope to win that game.
And finally the game worth to mention about is Botafogo's win against Blumenau 88-81. It was a very good performance for Paulinho Boracini who helped to win the game recording 27 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists (perfect behind the arc making all five shots). Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Botafogo will face Vila Nova/AEGB in Goiania in the next round. Blumenau will play at home against Blackstar and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Other games in round 1 were not that significant. Osasco beat Blackstar on the road 88-75. Anapolis won against Vila Nova/AEGB on its own court 88-80. Blackstar unfortunately lost to Botafogo in Rio de Janeiro 74-79. Winless Vila Nova/AEGB lost to undefeated Osasco at home 64-76.
The most impressive performance of 1st round was 15 points and 5 assists by Santiago Luduena of Osasco.

Osasco - Blumenau 96-78

Osasco defeated Blumenau at home 96-78. They outrebounded Blumenau 45-27 including a 33-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Blumenau was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Guard Gustavo Scaglia (193-93, college: Arizona W. CC) stepped up and scored 28 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and forward Renato Scholz (197-88) chipped in 9 points and 10 rebounds.
