Cook's 34-point game gives him Player of the Week award- April 12, 2021
He had the game-high 34 points adding five rebounds and four assists for Campo Mourao in his team's victory, helping them to edge out Cearense (#10, 13-15) 84-83. The game rather meaningless between the teams, which do not have any influence on top of the standings. Campo Mourao maintains the 15th position in Brazilian league. Too late to salvage the team, which is currently ranked such low. They already lost 23 games and recorded just six victories. In the team's last game Cook had a remarkable 57.1% from 2-point range and got six three-pointers out of 9 attempts. He turned to be Campo Mourao's top player in his first season with the team. Southeastern Oklahoma State University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Cook is in league's top in points (5th best: 19.2ppg) and averages solid 42.3% from behind 3-point line. Second best performed player last round was Gabriel Galvanini (202-SF-98) of Bauru. He is international in his 6th season at Bauru. In the last game Galvanini recorded impressive double-double of 19 points and 13 rebounds. Of course he led Bauru to another comfortable win 88-72 over the lower-ranked UniFacisa (#9, 14-16) being unquestionably team leader. Bauru's 5th position in the standings has not changed. His team lost some distance to top teams. But 18-11 record is not bad and everything may still change. Galvanini is one of the most experienced players at Bauru and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. Third place about best performers goes to Rafa Oliveira (199-SF-93) of UniFacisa (#9). Oliveira scored 21 points and grabbed eleven rebounds (!!!). He was a key player of UniFacisa, leading his team to a 99-80 easy win against slightly lower-ranked Pato Basquete (#11, 12-18). The chances of UniFacisa ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 16 games, recording just fourteen victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Oliveira could help UniFacisa to bring them higher in the standings. Oliveira has a very solid season. In 30 games in Brazil he scored 8.3ppg. Other top performing players last week: 4. Wesley Alves (198-SF-96) of Mogi - 19 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists 5. Danilo Sena (196-SF-99) of Pinheiros - 22 points and 2 rebounds 6.
