CBC League Round 8: Joinville lose to Corinthians in the game between Top 4 teams

Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

The game between Top Four teams took place in Joinville. 3rd ranked host Joinville (3-3) was smashed by second ranked Corinthians (5-1) 86-57. They made 17-of-19 free shots (89.5 percent) during the game. Corinthians outrebounded Joinville 46-32 including a 37-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of center Ralfi Ansaloni (211-87) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds and Argentinian point guard Enzo Cafferata (186-88) who added 14 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. Emanuel Matias (198-99) responded with 10 points and 8 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Corinthians have a solid four-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Ponta Grossa. Joinville at the other side keeps the third place with three games lost. Corinthians is looking forward to face league's leader Ponta Grossa in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Joinville will play against Londrina and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
CBC League top team - Ponta Grossa (5-1) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat sixth ranked Maringa (1-5) 71-62. The winners were led by guard Nathanael Nascimento (188-94) who scored that evening 11 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists and Leonardo Bispo supported him with 16 points. Even a double-double of 14 points and 12 rebounds by Erike Lima (202-99) did not help to save the game for Maringa. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ponta Grossa maintains first position with 5-1 record, which they share with Corinthians. Maringa lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with five games lost. Ponta Grossa will play against league's second-placed Corinthians in Santa Cruz do Sul in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Maringa will play on the road against Brusque (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game in Londrina was also quite interesting. One of their biggest challengers Brusque (2-4) played at the court of fifth ranked Londrina (2-4). Londrina defeated Brusque 80-67 on Sunday. The best player for the winners was Rafael Santos who had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds. Rodrigo Silva produced 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 blocks for the guests. Brusque's coach Abdala Neto rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Londrina moved-up to fourth place, which they share with defeated Brusque. Londrina will meet higher ranked Joinville (#3) on the road in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Brusque will play against Maringa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Londrina made 11 blocks. The best player for the winners was forward Rafael Santos (200-99) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds. Guard Jackson Da Silva (192-96) chipped in 18 points and 9 rebounds. Five Londrina players scored in double figures.
